REVEALED! THE EYE-CATCHING SUPER EAGLES 2020 KITS
JANUARY 3, 2020 8:48AM
https://www.sportsvillagesquare.com/202 ... 20-kits-2/

Again, as in 2018, the Super Eagles are set to make fashion statement in 2020 as kit manufacturers, Nike are set to unveil new kits for the Nigerian football team in March.

The set of kits will be the Super Eagles attire when the second phase of the continental qualification for 2022 FIFA World Cup gets underway in the last week of March.

The 2018 kit was an instant hit, when it was unveiled in London in March 2018 and almost sold out in June when sales began.

The March date is the period Nike plans to unveil the new kits of most national teams under its kitting programme, especially those that will be involved in the Euro 2020.

For Nigeria, footyheadlines, which specialize in kit news, has given indications of what followers of the Super Eagles should expect.

Information gleaned by http://www.sportsvillagesquare.com indicates that the Nigeria 2020 home and away kits are set to be released in March / April 2020.

Along with the official jerseys are array of items ranging from Hawaiian-style shirts, cycling tights, Naija-branded tactical vests, poncho, hoodies and shorts.

According to Footyheadlines, the Nigeria 2020-21 collection is anything but just recolored templates

The answer is money. You want fans to always be in the market buying.

I can't think of a single event in history that was as much of an international public relations coup for Nigeria as when Nike released those jerseys in 2018.

They don't need to make wholesome changes to it then. Just enough to make people want the latest version without losing its original appeal. Perhaps same design but with a different shade of green.

And what will be the incentive for people that bought the current jersey who will most likely be the same people that will buy the new jersey buy it? They need to change it significantly.

Why did we relinquish our MOSTLY WHITE WITH GREEN STRIPS kits to the Ghanaians? It baffles me. All of a sudden, the Ghana squad features in White in most of their outings; but their flag rarely has white color in it. Green Eagles used to appear in all White with green strips in it.

Ghana's all white goes back at least half a century. It did not begin today. Nigeria has even in current designs maintained the presence of both green and white. In my opinion, we could add black to the mix or even a red which used to be part of our colors in the 1940s and 50s.

But they might not get it right. In fact, they could get it disastrously wrong.
They have a higher chance of matching the success of the current jersey if the changes are very subtle like TY has suggested.

Damunk,

Yes, you can just tweak it if you want to remain close to what has been successful. That, I believe, is what has been done here as you noted. That 2018 uniform, it could be argued, was a tweak on the 1994 version.

IMO, you have to keep changing to make money. There is, also, no problem in reproducing the 2018 version in later years as a throwback. At that time, most fans may no longer have it and would then likely buy the throwback.

don't mind him...cars, phones , clothes etc all come with new products etc..i am sure that damunk would still prefer us to be wearing usa 94 kits/France 98 etc..shows how poorly he thinks. The team signed a deal with Nike , it's a money venture, contract stipulates multiple designs etc... everyone knows kits do change always...but damunk still wants the money made from previous sales to still exist...never ever go into business with such a poor thinker with zero projection of gains ..shame , shame shame

But what is getting it right? Keeping it the same is not getting it right. Also, like I said, most people that buy Nigerian jerseys already have the current one. Nike and Nigeria want to make money off jerseys, so their only option is to change to a different design that will make the same people that buy jerseys buy the new one.

I can't see myself buying anything they bring out that closely resembles the current jersey, because I already have it. They will lose money if they keep it the same or make it similar.
