Manchester United scouting Ghana international Mohammed Kudus
According to a report from Danish publication EkstraBladet (h/t Mirror), Manchester United had sent scouts to watch 19-year-old forward Mohammed Kudus, who plays for FC Nordsjaelland.

Having started out at the Right to Dream academy in Ghana, the teenager moved to Nordsjaelland in January 2018. Till date, he has made 56 appearances for the club, bagging 14 goals and 3 assists.

The 2019/20 campaign has been his breakthrough one as he has emerged as one of the Danish outfit’s top players. In 27 games across all competitions, Kudus has found the back of the net on 12 occasions, while setting up one more.

A versatile operator, Kudus is primarily a centre-forward but can play in the No.10 role and central midfield as well – a position where he has been prominently used this term. In fact, 7 of his 12 goals have come when he has started in the middle of the park.

The 19-year-old has also broken into the Ghanaian national team, earning two caps in which he has netted a goal as well.

The report states that the versatile youngster would cost around the £4.5m mark, with Dutch giants Ajax also monitoring him.

Ever since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer took over the reins at the club, Manchester United have moved towards a youth-centric recruitment policy. A number of prospects from the club’s academy have also gotten their chances with the first-team.

Kudus, given his age and potential, would fit into the club’s new policy. His ability to play in attack and midfield would come in handy. Especially considering that we have lost Angel Gomes already, while Juan Mata is past his prime. It remains to be seen if the club make a move for the Ghanaian.

Ajax agree €9m deal for Nordsjælland teenager Mohammed Kudus

According to Voetbal International, Ajax have secured the signing of Nordsjælland teenager Mohammed Kudus.

Kudus has been on Ajax’s radar for quite some time and has impressed in Denmark this season with 11 goals in 25 league matches.

Borussia Dortmund, Borussia Mönchengladbach, Everton, Liverpool, Manchester United, and Tottenham have all been interested in the 19-year old, but it appears that Kudus will develop at Ajax and have the opportunity to become their star striker.

VI claims that Ajax will pay Nordsjælland €9m for his signature, slightly higher than the rumoured €8.5m fee that has been circulating over the past few days.

Kudus will be Ajax’s third summer signing after Maarten Stekelenburg and Antony.

'Mohammed Kudus like a young Clarence Seedorf'

Earlier in the window, Ajax signed young Ghanaian forward Mohammed Kudus from Nordsjælland on a five-year deal after paying a €9m fee, making him the most expensive teenager from Ghana in history.

In 27 matches in all competitions this past season, Kudus scored 11 goals to help Nordsjælland achieve a sixth-placed finish.

Due to his phenomenal potential, Kudus has been likened to some of the best players in history and former Ajax scout John Steen Olsen has told De Telegraaf that Kudus reminds him of a specific football legend.

“One of the greatest talents in Denmark. It is a boy with so much quality,” Olsen said.

“Technically very good, and very fast. I have often seen him at work with Henk Veldmate (chief scout of Ajax). He is also very enthusiastic.

“Kudus can play in all positions in midfield anyway, but in the front, he can also play in the striker or on the right.

Mohammed Kudus makes immediate impression on Ajax

The Dutch giants manager Eric ten Hag has shared his first impressions of the attacking midfielder
Ajax Amsterdam coach Erik ten Hag reveals he is still undecided about where he will be deploying new Ghana signing Mohammed Kudus in the club's set-up, but is impressed with what he's seen from the new arrival.

The 20-year-old joined the Dutch side from Danish club Nordsjaelland last month following a fine season for the Wild Tigers.

After debuting as a second-half substitute in a 2-0 pre-season friendly triumph over Wolfsberger, he made his second appearance for the Eredivisie heavyweights on Saturday as the club handed Red Bull Salzburg a 4-1 defeat to wrap up a training camp in "I had already seen many matches of that boy on television and I am not surprised what he shows here," ten Hag told Ajax TV. "In a first match it is always a matter of searching, but he showed that he understands the game, that he has skills and he is physically strong.

''He just has to go through the process. He is a player who can play in many positions. I'm not sure about that [position we will mostly be deploying him] yet," the coach added. "In Denmark, he played in almost all positions in midfield and in attack.

''He has a number of characteristics, which makes him excellent on the flanks, for example as a left-wing defender."

Kudus scored 11 goals in 25 league appearances for Nordsjaelland last season. He started in 22 of the games and assisted one goal.

"It feels really good [to wear the Ajax jersey]. I couldn't wait to start playing with the team and it has happened. I [have] just joined my teammate and [will] used my individual skills to help them do well in the season," Kudus told Ajax TV after his debut.

Former coach: 'I expect Mohammed Kudus to settle in at Ajax quickly'

After graduating from Ghana’s famed Right to Dream academy, Mohammed Kudus needed less than two years to make his mark at sister club Nordsjælland before landing a five-year deal with Ajax.

The Dutch giants splashed €9m for the striker in July, just days before his 20th birthday, making Kudus the most expensive Ghanaian teenager in history.

There are a lot of expectations surrounding the youngster, which have further elevated following his goal against Eintracht Frankfurt in Ajax’s 2-1 friendly win last week.

In the eyes of former Ghana international and Right to Dream youth team coach Laryea Kingston, Kudus will have no trouble adjusting to his new surroundings.

Mohammed Kudus: Ghana star on Man of the Match and Ajax coach Erik ten Hag's praise

The midfielder and his club manager spoke to the press after the latter's debut game for the Amsterdam-based side
Ghana midfielder Mohammed Kudus is not resting on his oars amid his glittering competitive debut for Ajax Amsterdam in their league clash with RKC Waalwijk on Sunday.

On his debut, the 20-year-old put up an eye-catching display to help his side to a 3-0 home triumph in the Dutch Eredivisie.

He was voted Man of the Match by fans of the club after the game, his influence shown in his involvement in the sequence of play leading to the first two goals.

"I want to compliment my colleagues. I heard yesterday that I was going to play, so I had to prepare well. The boys are good to me, it's like family to me here.

"I can play in different positions, both in attack and in midfield. You never know where you will end on the field. I'm ready for anything. Normally I play more in the front.

"The goal is to win as much as possible with the team. Everything individual will come afterwards."

Kudus joined Ajax in a five-year deal reportedly worth €9 million, signing from Danish outfit Nordsjaelland in July.

"I think he's great to see," Ajax coach Erik ten Hag told FOX Sports after the match.

"He is very active and dynamic and can play football with very high intensity.

"When Kudus gets the ball, he often does something good with it. He was also good defensively. He took a lot of balls.

"If he still learns to choose a better position in our system, then it will be a very nice player for Ajax."

After a bench role in the opening Eredivisie weekend, Kudus was handed a starting spot for Sunday's matchday two fixture owing to the absence of Ryan Gravenberch, paired alongside Edson Alvarez and Quincy Promes in midfield.

"Of course I can take him out [back to the bench], why not?" Ten Hag said, in context of the team dynamics should Gravenberch return.

Article continues below
"He has done a lot of good things, but there are also points for improvement, such as taking position. But the more he plays, the easier he learns to choose the right position.

"Of course Kudus can also play with Gravenberch. But did you see how many balls Alvarez took today? And how many he was on his way to be playable? We are going to play a lot of games this year and we will need all the players."

Kudus scored 11 goals in 25 league appearances for Nordsjaelland last season.
