Paul Pogba tests positive for coronavirus - BBC

Post by YemiBrazil »

Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba has tested positive for coronavirus, says France manager Didier Deschamps.

The 27-year-old will have to self-isolate for 14 days.

He will miss France's Nations League game in Sweden on Saturday, 5 September and the home game against Croatia three days later.

However, Pogba could be eligible for selection for United's Premier League opener against Crystal Palace at Old Trafford on 19 September.

His club said: "Everybody at United wishes Paul a speedy recovery ahead of the new season."

Pogba will be replaced in the France squad by 17-year-old Rennes midfielder Eduardo Camavinga.

"I've completed, at the very last minute, a change in the list," Deschamps said on Thursday.

"Paul Pogba, who was previously on the list, unfortunately for him he carried out a test yesterday which was returned as positive this morning."

According to TalkSport:

Manchester United’s Paul Pogba and Tottenham midfielder Tanguy Ndombele have been withdrawn from the France squad after testing positive for coronavirus.

Les Bleus take on Sweden and Croatia in the Nations League at the start of next month, but neither Pogba nor Ndombele will take part.

Rennes’ teenage sensation Eduardo Camavinga, 17, has been handed his debut senior call-up to replace the two absentees.

Testing positive doesn’t necessarily mean either is unwell.

True!!!
He's probably asymptomatic, i.e. has the infection but no symptoms and will not develop them later.
In such a case, I don't understand why people wish him "Get well soon"

...positive test result can be psychologically damaging to some people.
Like during the aids epidemic 80s and 90s before a cure was discovered.
Same thing with being diagnosed with cancer.
Only the strongest (will and mentally wise) do survive.

Were he and Ndombele together? Tanguy got it too.
