Where's the Love for the Elland Road Boys?

Post by Bell »

There was a time when a Leeds/Liverpool fixture was the must-see match of the week but that was a time when none of the current players was born. Times have changed very much with Leeds sliding into obscurity for a while but it looks like they're back. They gave Liverpool a good match even to my surprise and it took two easy PK's for Liverpool to clinch the narrowest of victories. I think Leeds will make some noise this season and with an infusion of a few difference makers could return to elite status. It may not be easy but I may have to re-establish a relationship broken many years ago.

Their goal should be to work on their defense and avoid relegation. Next season work on adding more depth their squad. If they play the same way they played yesterday defensively. They will be relegated. It is a long season, injuries will happen, teams will start to plan for them to stop their attack.
Winners do it the right way.

Correction, teams will know their traits from their slogs in the Championship. Leeds will inevitably wear themselves out long before the checkered flag. The squad depth is far too shallow to expend such energy for the full 12 rounds. Investment is needed, very surprised they didn’t pick up some of the Championship’s standouters, Matty Cash, Nathan Ferguson, Liam Moore, King Curt Davis, wealth of experience. Midfield, up top the same. As appealing to the eye as it is, tis energy sapping and will take its toll less they’re able to bolster the squad affectively.

Pick of the bunch downed and a few decent upper tier loans. Watford coulda’, woulda’, shoulda’ been raided. Still time, good luck to the Lillies, the Nordsmen were missed. Dearly.

20 MP for Rob Holding would be a good move for Leeds.

^from a Belovedian perspective, absolutely! Would be far better off going for Chambers, versatile and better, much better. Holding needs hand holding, CC is equally susceptible to brain farts, but nowt a few sprays of Airwick won’t subdue. Can also double up as a bog standard right back. A few upper tier loans too. Going into the season with two forwards is a recipe for disaster. Big outlay on Rodrigo, is there’s anyone not to trust in the Prem, it’s a Spanish CF. Good luck to the lad. Pukki for a couple quid? Buendia’s worth a punt. Josh King the same.

See these arm chair iCoaches on CE.

1. Leeds scored 3 quality goals while LFC scored 2 Penas.
2. LUFC’s major mistakes were by their new players. The guys are still adapting to the system. Yet you want the club to add more players en mass? That’s crazy!

That will ruin the team’s chemistry and system which Bielsa has spent years working on.
BTW, isn't that how LUFC got in trouble buying all the expensive players. The current owners are not about to make that mistake.

3. LUFC had injuries last season and the one before but they still qualified for the EPL and almost qualified.

4. Also it can be argued that the championship has more high intensity games than the EPL.

@Kabalagala, squad depth is a must. Without it, Leeds will go down, with it, they’ll have the burden of blending new faces. Doubled edged sword, one sharper than the other.

They can add to the team bit by bit.
They have just added 2-3 new players. Let them settle down.

On another note, I enjoyed "Take Us Home: Leeds United."

Leeds fan, Holding is in high demand, I hear a club is offering a 5 MP loan fee plus his wages to sign him. Your club better move on the 20 MP move before it is too late.

Wow, Leeds United took coach's advice.

They have bought  6 new players (not 3 as I thought) and actively looking everywhere for more.
They seem to prefer buying young players outright instead of getting them on loan.
So their loanees will likely be "seniors." :)

@ohenhen, which Leeds fan are you trying to sell on Holding?
Bielsa prefers MFs in his defense.

On another note, Season 2 #TakeUsHome2, will be out tomorrow
I wonder how they will make it better than Bielsa's 1st year which was off the charts. :D
Also filming started after the pandemic reopening.
Only calamitious Kiko Casillas' racist wahala compared to the events of Season 1.

Do you mean La Liga or Spain born strikers?

Anyway, Bielsa turned gra gra, headless chicken Leeds players into real ballers.
I suspect that he broke their legs and had experts fix/readjust them .... ahem, heal them properly. :D
Rodrigo might get the same treatment.

Must learn to defend. They shouldn't be like Chelsea or Liverpool from previous seasons.

Scott Parker will most likely be the first manager to be sacked. Both Leeds and Fulham will get smashed if they don't fix their defenses.

Have said times over, Leeds are cruising for almighty bruisings. More so when the sugar rush wears off like the deep sleeping toddler an energetic hour after a full bag of Haribo.
