Atletico Madrid eye Gent's Elisha Owusu as Thomas Partey replacement

Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone could move for Gent midfield star Elisha Owusu if Thomas Partey leaves the Spanish capital.

Ghanaian international Partey has been heavily linked with a switch to Arsenal before the transfer window closes next month.

However, the Gunners have not made a firm offer for the 27-year old, amid growing rumours the Premier League side are unable to afford his €50m release clause at the Wanda Metropolitano.

If Mikel Arteta does make a late offer for Partey in the coming weeks, reports from Mundo Deportivo claim Simeone has already lined up Owusu as a replacement in a possible €15m deal.

Owusu has impressed with the Belgian side following his arrival from Lyon at the start of the 2019-20 campaign, with 33 league appearances as Wim De Decker who finished second behind Club Brugge.

Despite being under contract until 2023, Atletico are confident they can secure a deal, if Simeone needs to strengthen his midfield options.

Arsenal receive Thomas Partey transfer boost after Atletico agree Lucas Torreira terms

Arsenal have made Partey their number one transfer target but they first have to offload some fringe players to raise funds for the Ghana international.

Atletico will not let Partey leave for any less than his £45million release clause.

Negotiations for both players are expected to take place separately.

Knowing ARSENAL, I'm not holding my breath.

I think Edu is struggling this window to land big name players with more life in their legs.

I think it's what he is left to work with. The higher ups are planning to ride the feel good factor from winning the FA cup and community shield whilst making sure that nothing from their own pockets is used for anything.
Arsenal is not far from being a balanced and competitive team but the question is will the owners take that further step(eg Liverpool owners with Van Dijk and Alisson) or will they wait till its too late and do the usual firefighting(i.e. Waiting till late and end up desperately overspending on average players)?

'Tears in my eyes!' - Arsenal fans in meltdown as Atletico Madrid make Thomas Partey decision

Arsenal fans have taken to social media and are reacting to Diego Simeone's decision regarding Atletico Madrid midfielder Thomas Partey.

With less than a week to go until the summer transfer window closes, the Gunners are being tipped to do some late business amid links to the Ghana international and Lyon playmaker Houssem Aouar.

However, with both players likely to cost at least £45m, the north London outfit will have to raise funds by selling players in order to address Mikel Arteta's midfield concerns Speaking about possible transfers following the 3-1 defeat against Liverpool on Monday night, the Gunners manager said it could be a busy week ahead.

"We don't have any news on new players and either with players that might leave the football club," he told reporters. "It's a week to go, I think it's going to be really busy for other clubs because not much business has been done.

"Let's see what happens.

"I think it's going to be really busy for the Premier League. I don't know for us how it's going to happen."

With that said, there is a growing belief amongst the Arsenal fan base that the club are going to be busy wrapping up a deal for Partey ahead of Monday's deadline.

However, some eagle-eyed supporters have spotted that the midfielder has been recalled to the Atletico starting XI for their La Liga clash against Huesca this evening.

Arsenal make £45m move for Atletico Madrid midfielder Partey
The Gunners have indicated they will pay the Ghana international's release clause to sign him from the Liga side after a summer of transfer links
Arsenal have made a late move to sign Thomas Partey from Atletico Madrid before tonight’s transfer deadline, Goal has learned.

The Ghana international - who has a release clause of £45 million (€50m/$58m) - has been a priority target for the Gunners all summer.

Discussions with Atletico have taken place during the past few months, with Arsenal hoping to land the midfielder for a fee less than his release clause, but Atletico have consistently stated that the only way Partey will be leaving this summer is if that clause is activated.

England defender Kieran Trippier has made a bold prediction about Arsenal new signing Thomas Partey.

Partey left Spanish side Atlético Madrid to join Arsenal on a five-year deal on Monday.

The Gunners paid the player’s release clause of €50 million to the Rojiblancos on transfer deadline day.

And his former Atlético Madrid teammate, Trippier has insisted that the Ghana international ranks among the list of best midfielders he has shared the dressing room with.

The England star also claimed Partey would have no problem adapting to the Premier League.

“He’s unbelievable, his physicality, how he breaks up play. Technically he’s got everything. He ranks as one of the best midfielders I’ve played with.”

“He speaks perfect English. I don’t think he’d have a problem with the Premier League,” Trippier stated.

Partey, who graduated from the Atlético Madrid academy, made his final appearance for the club in the goalless draw against Villarreal on Saturday.

He is currently on international duty with the Ghana National team as the West Africans prepare to engage neighbours Mali in a friendly game in Antalya, Turkey, on Friday

The Black Stars will also play against 2022 FIFA World Cup hosts Qatar three days later.

Private first class Maceo4,

Our boys (Kudus, African Baresi, Schlup, Amartey) did not play in the friendlies.
We used the friendlies to try some new faces.

Now, we are ready to unleash the full potential and the fear of Allah in all African teams
