From the intent to begin with, to the contact itself, to the region of the body thusly contacted .... there is nothing that happened that merited a card-less freekick, never mind a card that was red. Is there no V.A.R.?

I doubt the stupid referee even looked at VAR.
He was behind the incident and definitely reacted to the theatrics of Salvadore who rolled a good 5 metres in fake 'agony'.

Funny thing is, he got stretchered off later in the game for a real injury.
