Yes. And just to complete the picture; Onyekachi Okonkwo only came on as a sub mid way the second half last night for FC Zurich who got a 5-0 roasting at home to Bayer Leverkusen in the UEFA cup.

Did not watch the game, but do not think he had a spectacular game (he was rated 5.5 on goal.com) but still good for a first start. Enough to warrant some further drilling in Malaga for fitness, form etc.

He played 79 mins. Enought for a first competitive outing after the long injury to suggest he is almost there.

I find this mindless fascination for a foreign coach nauseating. We already have a gem of a coach within the country. Siasia. Why look outside? It is the current vogue! Seriously, to coach the team properly, you need the respect of the players. Our players will not respect or listen to a coach who ...

Can't see any of the U17 boys being selected. Similarly, the chances are very low for Oladapo, Ambrose, Kaita and Ishiaku. End battle for No.23 spot would likely be between Eromoigbe and Makinwa. I believe Vogts would opt for Makinwa, although I do not think he deserves it. Pity he was not bold enou...

On the evidence of the 7 mins, Onyekachi Okonkwo is light years away from him and should not be in the 23. We are seriously depleted in that area, and need to pick our best players (even if half fit now but certain to regain full fitness in Jan). I would rather a starting midfield of Ayinla, Obi and...

Obodo in squad for Udinese clash with Sampdoria

Obodo is in the 21 man squad for Udinese's game today with Sampdoria. Doubt if he will start, but this is another hopeful news for our midfield options during the ANC because until now Obodo had really been struggling to regain match fitness to merit even a call up to the Udinese squad.

Oruma getting back to form

Saw Oruma come on in the last 7 mins in Marseille's victory over Monaco last night. Clear in that limited time that he still has much of his pace and his touches are still intact. Quite frankly with our limited attacking midfield options, he merits a call up. On the evidence of last night, by Januar...

I watched the game. Makinwa seemed committed, worked for his team and indeed worked his sucks off. But, really, with the array of striking talent we have the guy is simply not good enough for the Super Eagles; should not even be in the squad. He was subbed in the 73rd minute and his replacement, Pan...

Re: Nigeria's best 23 for ANC

From all I have seen, barring injuries and assuming full recovery for Obodo: Goal keepers: Ejide Aiyenugba Enyeama Full backs: Apam (if Ordia does not recover on time) Eromoigbe Taiwo Emeghara Central Defenders: Yobo Afolabi Shittu Nwaneri Midfielders: Ayinla Obi Obodo Etuhu Olofinjana Okoronkwo Fo...
