Re: Muda Lawal
He grew up on the same street (Adedoja, Odi Olowo) with my dad in Mushin. They played street football together. I think street vs street competitions at Mushin district primary school field, Idi Oro. Top class footballer.

Re: WE ARE LUCKY WE DID NOT DRAW EGYPT
This is a funny thread. Eguavoen beat this same Egypt already. There is nothing new about them.
I think what you should actually take from this is that one defeat doesn't define a team.
Egypt weren't a bad team because the lost to Nigeria. It was ONE match

Re: We played 10 vs 11 for 30mins. Does that not count?
In my opinion, it wasn't a terrible performance by the SE. It was simply below average. I couldn't really assess the 2nd half because of the relatively early Tunisian goal + red card. Bad days in the office do happen. My main concern is how better prepared Tunisia were compared to Nigeria. Tunisia h...

You are right. Hence why I said on this occasion. It's just one game. I still think Eguavoen did a decent job.

Re: Rohr was a better coach than Eguavoen
Nail in the coffin for local coaches honestly. This was a piss poor display. A team that common Gambia and Mali handled easily. Disagree with your first comment. However, it did show the tactical limitations of Eguavoen. This was the 1st real test. Most teams entering the knockout understood how th...

To be honest, this specific match wasn't about players. The manager was tactically outmatched on this occasion.

Re: PESEIRO - where art thou?
I don't know about Peseiro but I think this match emphasizes the importance of tactics in the modern game. This was the 1st game where a team planned for the SE and they simply couldn't respond.

Re: Tunisia Will Miss Several Players
There has been a Covid outbreak in their camp. They had 8 players missing in the match vs Gambia, I think?
It seems infection rate is still pretty high in their camp. I'm slightly concerned about potential transmission to Nigeria players during the game tomorrow.

This will be the much needed 'x-factor' for Ghana. However, I'm sure the SE also feel the same.airwolex wrote: ↑Sat Jan 22, 2022 4:38 pmThey will be extra motivated. Nothing will give them more pleasure thann beating us to a WC slot.

Indeed. However, I expect this to apply to all the play-offs. Will be a cagey affair.

Solid performance by Ajayi. There was a lapse of concentration on a couple of occasions. I also felt he could have been a more aggressive in his defending at times. He has been out of the SE squad for little while now but showed he definitely belongs.

I thought Nwakali acquainted himself well (at AFCON level). GB are no pushovers. He faded in the 2nd half nevertheless a productive shift by him. I hope we see more of him.

Re: Probable route for Nigeria
Sorry….how do they determine exactly which of the four best losers meets who, when they say B/E/F? Is that the order? If all 3rd placed teams in those three groups qualify, does it mean we meet the team from GpB rather than GpE?[*][*] Not necessarily, It's a little confusing. Nigeria would play 3rd...

Re: Probable route for Nigeria
Was thinking Malawi in the round of 16 or Sierra Leone I think it’s 3rd place qualifier from Group B, E, or F in that order. Ahhh so the tiebreaker is only for the spots available, irrespective of who the superior side is, it will be the team from Group B, assuming they make the cutoff. So it will ...

Re: Central Defenders OMG
IMO, whilst Ajayi has been pretty decent for the SE, I haven't anything from him (wearing the GWG) that indicates he is level above Omeruo right now. All CDs in the squad are at around similar level. Omeruo is probably my preferred starter for now. I do like the fact that at West Brom he plays highe...

Re: This is the Best SE I have seen since 1994
Best team since 1994? Not sure. Maybe once they win an AFCON title or reach a WC QF. Definitely one of the better SE teams and there is is clearly room for improvement but for me personally 2013-14 team put in more convincing performances against stronger opposition (competitive games) . However, yo...

This is my 1st time watching this team and must say they seem very raw compared to our previous teams.
