Re: Nigeria vs CIV (0-0)
Nigeria has never played the African Cup final badly. From 1980, 1984, 1988, 1990 1994, 2000, 2013. And these were the years when there was no VAR. In the 1988 final, for example, Thomas Nkono was beaten with a clear header and the referee disallowed the goal claiming Henry Nwosu was offside. If the...

Rohr did well, qualified Nigeria for the World Cup 2018 in a tough group involving Cameroon, Algeria and Zambia with one game to spare.

Re: Nigeria vs South Africa (1-1) Ekong, Mokoena 4-2 PK
Brilliant Eagles, thanks for the victory. I could not watch the match as I was involved in a trial. Every now and then I checked the score, it was 0-0. When I checked ball possession, SA had more possession and I began to panic. And then I saw 4:2 online. I breathed easier. If only one knows how I a...

Re: AFCON competition ended when Senegal lost
VAR is the best thing that has happened to football since sliced bread. The time Nigeria used to be cheated by dubious officiating has come to pass. VAR keeps all the referees honest. Every team must earn their victory going forward.

Re: Nigeria vs Angola (1-0) Lookman x1, Moses assist FT
Eagles had an off day today. A lot of misplaced passes in the final third, an uncharacteristic blunder in the defense exposing Nawabali to the tender mercy of the Angolan forward. Aina's blunder led to the first corner in the first half, and again Nwabali bailed Nigeria out.

Re: Views from Others - Ugandans praise Iwobi, mock Song
Cameroon's failure to invite Eric Chippo Moting is baffling. Song says his team is young and yet refused to invite Eric Chippo Moting. Eric is 34 years old. He also did not take Eric to the World Cup. And Onana was in form during the World Cup. Had Onana played in the game against Serbia, Cameroon w...

Re: Ivory Coast vs Nigeria (0-1 ) Ekong FT
Aina played his best-ever game in a Nigerian shirt today. He was tireless, eager to get on to the ball, and did not put a foot wrong. Why has he not been a regular? I am always comfortable whenever I see him and Awaziem in a Nigerian defence, no offense to the starters today. They did well too, but ...

Re: Goalkeeper CRISIS pick your poison
We Should not embark upon the search for a new goalie on the eve of Afcon. Uzoho kept the goal for us in Russia and was a credit to himself. He held his own against powerful opposition like Argentina featuring Messi and Di Maria and Croatia and kept a blank sheet against Iceland. Granted, he has mad...

Re: Nigeria vs Egypt 1-0
We have to temper our expectations and make allowances for the team, the Pharaoh's team Eagles faced today. The Pharaohs were really bad. I think It was their coach that set them up that way. Coach Quirox's first instinct is to defend. He was ultra-defensive today. He set them up to sit deep. That k...

Aribo is good, quite possibly current SE best player. But Etebo is needed if not for anything for his free kick ability. His free kick against South Africa, reminds of Okocha’s 2004 free kick against Cameroon.

Re: Akpeyi and freekicks
In 1992 Nations cup, Westerhof stubbornly fielded another bad goalkeeper, Aloy Agu. Nigeria had the best outfielders except a goalkeeper. Nigerians protested fielding Aloy Agu, but Westerhof ignored us and we lost the semi final to Ghana in a match that we dominated and should have won. Uzoho was go...

Re: Akpeyi and freekicks
Akpeyi is to blame for the goal. At this level, such an elementary mistake is unpardonable .What is the point of arranging the defensive wall and then standing behind the wall? There was another Nigerian player lying on the ground to ensure no grounder would be played. All Akpeyi had to do was to st...

Re: CAF needs to come up with an African soccer strategy
Until African players can play in Africa and earn a living doing it, it is going to be hard. Perhaps South Africa will soon become the African soccer powerhouse. Nigerian Chrysanctus and Toni Kroos were stars in the under seventeen world cup in Korea sometime ago. Toni Kroos has since played for Bay...

Re: I AM CONFLICTED ABOUT RETAINING ROHR
Rohr did well. Put things in perspective. In this world cup, every team put 11 players behind the ball as soon as they lost possession. It makes it hard for anyone to find space. Even Croatia, normally an offensive minded team, put 9 or 11 men behind the ball as soon as they lost possession against ...
