Talk IT and Itatex are right. This is one of the best defences we are taking to a major tourney. Massive experience, good quality. Defeintely better than WC 2002 when people like sodje and Ejiofor were there. The heart. One player, Babayaro is at his 3rd ANC, has played in two WC's and top level in ...

KOC, you took the words out of my mouth. I was about to ask Kali if he just looked at the line up, or if he actually read the article.

If only CCC would give it a try. Alas, it's not 442, and it doesn't fit Finidi and Amunike

KOC, you are spot on with the way CCC will play. It's suicide though, and he might just loose his job before the end of the first round. You could probably get good odds on Okocha as player manager by the last game of the group stages! Seriously though, I am happy we are not playing a team like Mali...

My suspicion is that CCC will play a 4-man midfield with a diamond formation with Ekong or Ekwueme in front of the defence, with Lawal (or Ekwueme) on the left side of the diamond formation and Utaka or Ikedia on the right side of midfield with Okocha (with Osaze as his sub) just behind the two str...

Wakaman, i would move Jag and Yak foward ahead of Kanu. his strength is pasing not scoring. Don't fall for the arguement that the target man has to do the scoring. Often his job is to push up against a back four and pick holes to on running attackers. It's another mistake Nigeria often makes. If yo...

Guys, leave Garba alone. My beef is with Ekong and Ikedia Lawal has always been on hand for us, always quietly plugging away. Always doing a job. With Ribo now gone, I actually think it was right to include him alongside Kanu and JJ to bring some experience to the side. Also, you know with him there...

Blame Findi and Amunike

These guys have made Nigerian coaches, apart from Amodu, unable to play anything but a diamond formation. More worringly, they will always pick a 3rd rate winger (Ikedia) over a promising, more rounded midfielder (Obodo). Everyone forgets how special and once in a lifetime Amunike and Finidi were. A...

Same defence as two years ago except absence of Ribo who is injured. Midfield is lightwight, but was slow anyway two years ago. This team in qeak, but maybe we should just face facts that Nigeria is no longer a major force. Obodo has not been in great form anyway, and we needed some tackling in ther...

Is Lawal not there anymore? I think they'll put him in there if he's fit. I'm not happy about it, but to be fair, without him, that midfield is weak defensively.

Back to the thread... I personally think Baba and Udeze could form a left sided partnership in a 4-4-2. Baba is also quite flexible and would be fine whether that was a diamond formation or more of a defensive minded-midfielder on the left. The other option over the years have been Lawal and I would...

Shownoja not so fast.
Ranieri is playing both of them quite a bit, but Bridge is still first choice. With Baba away for a few weeks, Ranieri felt it important to give Bridge a break he won't be able to get for a while.
Still, its great that Baba has made the most of the op. Nice stuff

The boys there are big enough:
Apart from Yobo, we have Okocha (who could have retired from international game) and Kanu (who many question anyway).

So they better stop looking like Ameobi and start looking like Henry.

That goal puts chills down my spine. I think that was one of the greatest substitute appearances in the history of the EPL.
