Re: Ivory Coast Shouldn't have Won!

Teams that lose early in a tournament and recover to qualify, find a character which, if they harness correctly, takes them all the way to winning the Cup. Argentina lost to Saudi Arabia in Qatar. Teams that win matches right through, once they get to the final and go a goal down struggle to find it...

Re: Too much negativity..

During the game, Victor Osimhen kept hushing the other players to push forward and stop playing so deep, but they did not listen. They chose to continue to defend very deep sticking to the coach's tactics. That says a lot about the mentality of this current squad and lack of leadership. In previous ...

Re: 343 WAS A TOTAL BUST TODAY LIKE I SAID

In my opinion, the 3-4-2-1 will work against Ivory Coast. They are not mobile and will want to force their way through the middle or the wings. Their key player is Seko Fofana who is like a rampaging bull with his athleticism and power. Frank Onyeka will have a big job containing him. Their fans wil...

Honestly, Frank Onyeka has been so effective at nullifying opposition moves.
Just wonderful to see.

Re: Our Osimhen

Victor Osimhen is a serious, serious talent.
One man wrecking machine upfront.
The only area I struggle with are those headers in the box when he is not challenged.
Those should be goals.
He needs to work on them.

Re: 343 WAS A TOTAL BUST TODAY LIKE I SAID

The first half was indeed dire. The fact that they could turn it around in the 2nd speaks to the resilience of the team. We were lucky on this one for sure. They had a great chance in extra time to finish us off. Two things surprised me. How easily they bossed the midfield and how we were unable to...

Re: 343 WAS A TOTAL BUST TODAY LIKE I SAID

The strategy that Peseiro has used throughout this tournament is what gave Italy victory at so many World Cups. It is the dreaded "catenachio" which focuses totally on defence, closing down spaces and stopping the opposition from any goal-scoring opportunities. It is ugly but as the italia...

Re: Nigeria vs South Africa (1-1) Ekong, Mokoena 4-2 PK

Congratulations to the Super Eagles.

I didn't enjoy the tactics of the coach with our players staying off the ball while also keeping a high line leaving all the possession to the south africans. I also did not enjoy Ola Aina. Way too sloppy.

But hey,we are in the FINAL!!!!!!!!

Re: What Manner of Defence is Peseiro Putting Up for Zaidu?

Is he saying he's a left back [in his club] and cannot cope with the speed of being wing back? Or it's the owngoal writeup that lacks clarity? For me, it would seem Zaidu is not bad defensively but just pants going forward https://owngoalnigeria.com/2024/02/02/why-zaidu-sanusi-is-making-mistakes-su...

Re: Nigeria vs Angola (1-0) Lookman x1, Moses assist FT

To be honest, Angola was poor and un-inventive lacking any creativity. SE was better them on all accounts and knew what to do with the ball when we had it, Their star names Dala and Mabululu were missing. With us playing so deep especially in the 2nd half with no pressure on the ball, a clever side ...

Re: Nigeria vs Angola (1-0) Lookman HT

Leave Zaidu. Our keeper dey on vacation. This game has 3-0 written all over it. Almost too easy. Same keeper that made a point blank save? Ok oo That play was offside. If the goal had gone in, it would have been disallowed. It would have been dicey on VAR because of Troost-Ekong's trailing leg. Nwa...

Re: Nigeria vs Angola (1-0) Lookman HT

The centre backs of Angola are scared stiff of Victor Osimhen.
They are also very slow.
Once Angola push up to attack, we can punish them on the counter.
We have the pace and they don't.
Zaidu Sanussi should not be in this team.

Re: Nigeria vs Angola (1-0) Lookman HT

This game is ours for the taking for one simple reason. The Angolans have no pace throughout their team. Every rush for the ball, we get there first. We made that count for the goal and need to punish them further in the 2nd half. ZAIDU SANUSSI has been extremely poor. Please can we have a better le...

Austin JJ Okocha - Victor Osimhen will score a lot of goals from Okocha's passes from the midfield. I still remember that pass to Aghahowa against Republic of Ireland in Dublin, which Aghahowa promptly buried in the net.

Maximum respect for Sunday Oliseh. This is the job of a captain and this is why some players will give everything on the pitch for their captain.

Angola has scored 9 goals in this competition albeit against lesser teams. SE will need to improve our goal scoring and keep the defense as tight as ever. Nwabili is key. We must have him back. His ball distribution and accurate long range passes are key to how we play. When Uzoho came on, his long...

1751814366586896408 This guy balled. I love players with energy. But he performs better in this 5-4-1 formation in the DM role, not in a 4-2-4 like Peseinro had used him in the past. Frank Onyeka is the nearest DM that I can begin to compare to Sunday Oliseh. Once he starts to deliver long, accurat...

Re: Is this the best S.E team since 1994?

It is too early to place this set of SE. But they have progressed nicely. Peseiro's defensive strategy is working especially with the high press starting from Osimhen and Lookman upfront. The defensive trio of Ajayi, Ekong (he has been mercurial) and Bassey is solid and Frank Onyeka is maturing seam...
