from FIFA.com
The two teams head for Cairo tomorrow, but while the Africans prepare for a semi-final against Italy or Hungary, the Asians will be going to the airport for the long flight home.

Kudos to Ghana for qualifying for the semifinals.
This will be the second time an African team will reach that stage since Argentina 2001, when the same team lost to Argentina in the finals. The other team of course was our own U-20 squad who lost to the Messi led Argentines in the 2005 edition.
I hope Ghana ends up winning the cup for Africa, bad belle aside.

Adiyiah is not the truth - as least so far is average and inconsistent. He reminds me of Osundu of Nigeria - takes his opportunity but little to no upside. Osundu won the golden boot as well if I recall in U17 1987.

He will like win the golden boot.

But this lad is not a smart footballer for me - too inconsistent with his decision making.

Coach has his work cut out - I am really disappointed in his coaching and teaching. The Ghana boys has continued to underwhelm as the games has gone on. But this kind of victories will not last for long - they has to be smarter and more cohesive. Athleticism is good in fact great if used correctly. Maybe they can borrow a leaf from Korea cohesive and smart play. The Ghana boys are just playing like headless chicken now - I felt like slapping them today.

I want Ghana to win it all - that is why this bothers me big time.

The only hope I have in Ghana's team is Addo. Then kind mentions; Mensah and Inkoom. But they are defenders.

I want to see smarter play in the midfield and offense.

stargazer,

This team has tremendous potential.

Africa has never won this and there is no guarantee that we will get it this good in a long time.

I hope coach sits down and retool the team's possession game and decision making. Use your athletism to overwhelm but not as your bread and butter. I mean - move well without the ball, make the right passes and do it quickly, communicate, stay focused, and when the opportunity presents itself, over power your opponent Italy/Czech with your superior athleticism in 1v1 situation especially in the final offensive 3rd.

They did this in the AYC.

They did this against UAE.

So why are they slacking now?

this is why I was wishing d#$% Adams would have made the team. He has a wicked shot. And plays well behind our strikers. While Osei seems like nothing more than an in the box poacher. Adiyiah has potential but at times he is a bit selfish.

I think Ghana will still overwhelm Italy or Czech but Brazil or Costa Rica will be very unforgiving in the finale.

That is where I am looking at now and worrying more about. Italy or Czech does not have enough to stop Ghana even on Ghana's worst game like this one.

It is funny I am saying Ghana's worst game - but they won.

Now just imagine if Ghana just plays like they did against UAE or the first 70 minutes against Uruguay. Even Brazil will be overwhelmed.

PS. Dede Ayew should never be moved to the right anymore - even if it for 5 minutes. It is like moving Osanga to the left. An absolutely waste of both player's talent.

Italy play Hungary. Czechs were knocked out by the Hungarians. Also we have not played the UAE. We played RSA, Uzbekistan, England, Uraguay before S Korea.

We have been brainwashed by the Premier League that it's the best in the world. Nonsense. It's the best brand
Roy Keane: ITV 02/25/14

He says that we are currently "brainwashed" into believing that the Premier League is the best competition in the world, and that we are now a long way off dominating the Champions League again.
Gary Neville: Mirror: 12/23/14

I think Spain’s by far the best league.

Thanks for the correction.

Hungary could be tricky for Ghana - I hope Italy wins.

Oh I will not forget Germany too because they could know off Brazil but I doubt.

In all, Ghana has a truely golden opportunity to do something special.

Perfect tactics in my book... I am sick of African teams dominating possession and still losing games cause teams know they can sit back and wait for defensive lapses on the counter..Germany/Venezuela/Spain V Nigeria, USa v Cameroon being the most recent disapointments. Look at the stats especially shots on target Ghana had the better chances in this game.
Sellas Tetteh realized his team could not outrun the superfit koreans,so it was a pure counter attacking display, defensive focus on the final third ..The players were playing to instructions, defending in numbers and conserving energy whilst wearing down the Koreans.

we got the result. but we looked shaky getting it. if Korea had better finishers we may have been insulting Tetteh. We struggle passing and defending whic is a no no when playing a counter attacking game. We got away with it this time but just barely. I don't mind playing a counter attacking vame but it should be done properly. Anyway lets see what happens next.
