NFF spends 11 millon on Flamingoes just for fufu

THE Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has disclosed that it spent $67,500 (about N11m) on local delicacies for the country’s Under-17 women national team, who are currently participating in the Costa Rica 2014 female cadet World Cup.

A breakdown of the football federation’s financial estimate for the tournament as contained in an official document from the federation shows that while the tournament would cost Nigeria N228.9 million, N20.69 million would be expended on flight tickets, just as the match bonuses and daily allowances for the players and officials would gulp $472,500 (about N77.02 million).

Details of the football federations’ budget for the tournament revealed that: “The return air tickets for the 20 players at N340, 000 per player would amount to N6.8 million, the return air tickets for 10 technical officials would amount to N3.4 million.

“The return air tickets, Business class, for 15 officials, comprising the Minister of Sports, Permanent Secretary, members of the National Assembly and others at N450, 000 each, would amount to N6.75 million.

“The return tickets for 11 other officials, comprising two board members, two heads of Departments, one accompanying accountant and six others, would cost N3.74 million, totaling N20.69 million.”

The football federation further revealed that while it earmarked $106,500 (about N17.36 million) as the amount for the daily allowances for the players and officials, the sum of $426,000 (about N69.44 million) would be expended on paying winning match bonuses to the team.

The federation would also pay as allowances to the Nigerian contingent to Costa Rica the sum of $204,990 (about N33.413 million), adding that the estacode for eight government officials at $425 for 20 nights would gulp the highest amount of $68,000 (about N11.08 million)
