Exactly my observation here.
Ghana played all game trying to launch their attack centrally.
Unfortunately, the Malians crowded the midfield making it difficult for them to operate
By not using the wings more, Ghana was unable to stretch the Malian back-line and as such unable to create space for their attackers to operates from. More like the system Brazil came out to play us with in the 2nd half of our match before our keeper dashed them the 2 goals

The prospect of potentially playing Nigeria in the next round scared them so much they decided to check out early, just like they did for the 2016 Olympics qualifiers. :rotf: :rotf:
Very surprising to me too, but in reality, both teams were very well matched. Most of the game was played in the center of the field.

The scoreline alone is not even the most humiliating thing..just look at the quality of the goals. Dayuuum. If Ghana had any talent in that team, they can forget about them..because the PTSD from this will have ruined them.
Buhari, whose two terms thankfully ground to a constitutional halt in May. (One thing both democracies have going for them is that their leaders, however bad, have only two terms to swing the wrecking ball.) Under Buhari, growth per head also plunged to 0. An economic agenda drawn from the dusty pages of a 1970s protectionist handbook failed to do the trick. Despite Buhari’s promise to tame terrorism and criminality, violence flourished. Despite his reputation for probity, corruption swirled. FT

The Malians knew they could take on Ghana. This is the second time they have defeated Ghana in a competitive match in the last 3 months.
