Thunder storms expected all day in Port Harcourt on Tuesday. How does that affect the game? Could that be why rumors are circulating that FIFA turned down a request to move the game to Abuja?

For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God. No. It was rejected because the request came late. FIFA requires a request 10 days before scheduled date.

Nigeria is a useless country that thrives in chaos. I mean, why wasn't the game scheduled for Abuja in the first place? After all, the team convened in Abuja and had all their training sessions there before departing to Swaziland. So why train in Abuja and then play the game in PH? Does that make sense?

Note that the game was played in PH because the Rivers State Government provides money for organizing the game. However, recent tribunal decisions on Governor Wike's election created uncertainty that is believed to be the reason why NFF wanted to move the game.

So provision of money by the Rivers state government is more important than providing the best conditions to guarantee a victory for the SUPER EAGLES. Only in 9ja. Smh!!

Pro-Biafra Protesters Target Eagles’ Game
http://sportsdayonline.com/pro-biafra-p ... gles-game/

A security alarm has been sounded ahead of Tuesday’s World Cup qualifier between Nigerian and Swaziland in Port Harcourt, as residents in The Garden City are scared of the possibility of pro-Biafra protesters using the match to draw international attention to their plight.

This, SportsDay gathered on authority at the weekend, informed an emergency meeting of the local organising committee for Tuesday’s match, which continues holding long deliberations over security issues affecting the game.

The first of such meetings, which ran late into the night on Saturday, centred basically on how security operatives and other safety personnel would be marshalled to ensure peace reigns in Port Harcourt, before, during and after the game billed for Adokie Amiesimaka Stadium.

SportsDay gathered further that the fear of pro-Biafra protests has engulfed Port Harcourt since the past week, as several flashpoints had occurred in the awake of the recent arrest of a leading member of the group.

The protests have occasioned a dent in socio-economic activities in the usually boisterous oil-rich Garden City, as people are now living in apprehension of a violent upheaval.

Pro-Biafra protesters shut down Port Harcourt last week - CopyFear of the unknown reached a highpoint early Saturday, when the Super Eagles arrived from Swaziland aboard a chartered flight, following their dull goalless draw in Friday’s first leg.

While the Eagles were rushed to Hotel Presidential for their abode into and beyond Tuesday’s match, the LOC, headed by Bonin Iyayi, got busy with deliberations to ensure safety for the players and crew as well as seeking suggestions on ways of installing beefed-up security measures to prevent violence during the match.

However, the LOC is facing some internal issues of its own, as SportsDay learnt from a credible source that co-opted members of the committee have not been paid their allowances and have threatened a showdown with the body’s leadership.

“It’s true that they have not paid us any money for our services so far,” one of the members told SportsDay on telephone.

“We have sacrificed our time and energy for the sake of Rivers State, but there is nothing to show. What will happen now is that we will just start working if nothing is done by Monday.”

No, it did not. Nigeria beat Ghana 1-0 with a goal scored by home boy Emem Eduok. I belive NFF just hawks Eagles games to the highest bidders.

It is time Soccer Administrators or NFF started advocating the Football Affairs Autonomous in Nigeria. When soccer becomes independent of the Govt; then a true Professional atmosphere will be realized in all facets of it administration. Keep the fat bellied politicians away from Soccer.

...until the movers and shakers, including CE reps for these football thieves, notices that it will happen. Right now they don't see it because they are gaining from the free government money.

If that is the reason they gave to FIFA for requesting a change in venue, then attention is drawn already to the international world of football.
