... exactly! Where did this list/names come from? Is this a 'wish list', or a list pulled from the real list?

No new list will be complete without the inclusion of Nwakali. He needs to be given a chance.
Tbh Nwakali isn't even starting for his 2nd division side.

Alhassan and Nwobodo are both doing very well for their clubs.

Nwobodo has been the top tackler in Turkey for 2 seasons.

Victor Moses’ return means we can play a 352 with a proper rwb.
We need confirmation of this list abeg.
Bros the sources are on Twitter, all verified accounts with links to the NFF.
Okay, will check.

Are any of these new guys midfielders? So odd in a list of 40 we are not seeing more midfield options.

I doubt if either of Nwobodo or Alhassan will make it, but I reckon there will be room for one surprise name in either that midfield or defence.

Ndidi

Aribo
Ejaria
The Hoffenheim kid
Ejuke (can drift in as a CAM)
Lookman (can play as in a CAM role )

Then maybe Raphael Onyedika as a surprise inclusion.

I won't be laughing if I were Rohr cause his situation isn't any better with him as coach, remember he has it on his contract to win the AFCON or make it to the final at the very least or get fired, that's if he will even be in charge of the team come the AFCON... Rohr will definitely play his most attacking football ever to redeem his image and leave on a high note assuming he wins the AFCON.

Moses' comeback is welcome and is on merit. He is in good form for Spartak. With Chuwkueze taking time to regain full fitness and the likes of Onyekuru not setting the Greek league alight, Moses will be valuable to the SE. Moses seems to play with even more confidence for club than country.

Simon, Ejuke, Moses, Dennis, and Chuwkueze would be the five wingers I would include in the final 28. Although Lookman could edge out one of the five I mentioned.

Lookman should edge out Simon based on current form, but we know Rohr can't help himself when it comes to his favorites. But at the end the training camp will decide who is good enough to make the final 28 man list.

If we are going be what happened in the past, all 40 players will not be on camp.

I believe they reduce the list even further before anyone even arrives

My Twitter source is an inside scoop man, works with the media team of the NFF. Rohr knows his job is very uncertain and his team selection has all the markings of a desperate man trying to redeem himself... There are lots of more attacking mids in his team than usual.
Who are the attacking mids ? Other than Ejaria ?
Aside from Ejaria, the Uche Destiny Obiogumu kid from Hoffenheim is an attacking midfielder, he's German born and apparently one of his Rohrs hidden "gems" that he discovered. I think with Ejaria, Iwobi and yet to be seen Hoffenheim kid we are conveniently covered in the attacking mid (remember even Lookman, Ejuke and Aribo can play as CAMs as well), then the usual names like Ndidi, Aribo, Onyeka and we might see one or two CM's in the list as well.

Who is the Hoffenheim German-Nigerian U-19 star that has caught the eyes of Gernot Rohr?
October 25, 2021

The three-time African champions have had a couple of players born or raised in the diaspora represent them, and they may be set to welcome another into their squad

Over the weekend, Super Eagles manager Gernot Rohr was in his native Germany, not for a holiday but to watch some games.

The 68-year-old tactician was at the Allianz Arena to watch Bayern Munich take on Hoffenheim, with Kevin Akpoguma, who plays for the away side, likely to be the reason for Rohr’s presence.

But while his presence in the game was not a surprise, Rohr’s decision to watch the clash between the U-19 sides of the two teams the following day caught our attention.

Image
Nigeria coach Gernot Rohr watched the Bayern U19 vs Hoffenheim U19 game inside the Bayern Akademie Arena where Uche Obiogumu scored in a 1-1 draw on Sunday, 24 October, 2021.

Soccernet.ng can exclusively report that Rohr was there to watch a 17-year-old German-Nigerian, who could potentially represent the Super Eagles.

Who is the youngster?

Destiny Uche Obiogumu is the youngster’s name. He was born in Benin City but left when he was two years old and was brought up in Germany, so he has a German passport.

What is his playing position?

Obiogumu is a left-winger, but he is versatile and can play anywhere in the attacking role. The 17-year-old played as an attacking midfielder in Hoffenheim’s U19 clash against Bayern Munich U19 on Sunday, October 24.

The youngster impressed Rohr with a goal from his number 10 role as the game ended 1-1. It was his fifth goal in eight games in the Junior Bundesliga South/South West.

Meanwhile, Rohr believes he is similar to former Super Eagles captain John Mikel Obi. Although Mikel played in a deeper role at Chelsea, he actually started his career as an attacking midfielder.

He also played as a number 10 during his time with the Super Eagles, which is why Rohr’s comparison of Obiogumu with the former Chelsea star is not really out of place.

The German tactician even had some words of praise for the youngster after he scored against Bayern’s U-19.

“It’s a good sign to see a player score a goal,” Rohr said.

Has he committed to the Super Eagles?

Rohr sees him as a player for the future and had a conversation with the player after the game. Obiogumu, who was pleasantly surprised by the attention of the Super Eagles manager, has not yet featured for any of the German youth teams and is able to go into the Nigeria set up as soon as possible.

He is yet to play for Die Maancshaft’s youth teams, meaning he doesn’t need to apply for an international switch should he decide to represent Nigeria.

Image
Uche Obiogumu meets coach Gernot Rohr for the first time after the game between Hoffenheim U19 and Bayern U19 where he scored in a 1-1 draw at the Bayern Akademie.

Obiogumu can always seek the advice of Kevin Akpoguma, who plays for Hoffenheim’s first team. Akpoguma was also eligible to play for Germany but represented Nigeria at international level, even though he captained the German U20 team at the 2015 FIFA U20 World Cup.

Also, he could count on players like Leon Balogun and Maduka Okoye, who both grew up in Germany but decided to play for Nigeria.

Next steps

At 17, Obioguma is not ready for the senior national team. He needs to prove himself with an A team before he can begin to look the part. Rohr believes that he could be blooded into the Nigeria national youth set up as a first means of bringing him into the fold.

Nothing is assured yet, but he has caught the eyes of Rohr, who is already laying the groundwork to welcome another promising talent.

But for now, Obiogumu should be all about growing at his club.

Makes you wonder doesn’t it?
The same ‘logic’ that convinces commentators to insist on players like Nwakali is probably the same kind of ‘logic’ that convinces Rohr that his Musa or Ighalo should be in his squad.
Yet these same commentators will abuse Rohr for his ‘stupid’ selections whilst insisting on even worse choices!

Anyway, we are fans, so we are allowed to misyarn big time.

Put Chukwueze and Dennis on the wings and let Ejuke or Iwobi play in the Middle with Ndidi and Aribo. For the defense, Aina or Ebuehi and Sanusi at right and left back positions and then in the central defense use players that are good at passing out the ball from the back example Akpoguma and Awaziem. It is as simple as that! We need players that are good on the ball and also have some creativity in them.
Rohrs problem (aside from his tactical nonchalance) is that he is too LOYAL and inflexible for his own good. The man just can't see past sticking to the same core of players even when time and time again they've proven to be very average with nothing but diminishing returns to show for the undeserved grace reposed on them. These same core of players that we all know (Musa, Ighalo, Shehu, Simon, Collins, Ekong and to some extent Balogun). Now he has a chance (if he still remains a coach) before the AFCON to fix his mess and with the opportunity of more options of better players to choose from in an expanded squad... if Rohr somehow survives this backlash, and then goes to the AFCON starting the same core of garbage players he can't do without... then it will be obvious this man just wants to intentionally sabotage Nigeria... reason why NFF should have a massive influence on his player selections and playing style if they can't pay him off before the tournament starts.
But what if he wins the AFCON with the said players then what?
