Was Ronaldinho right about Okocha??
Ronaldinho: "Jay Jay Okocha, woow !! that man made football to listen to him. At Training we would watch him doing a freestyle, whatever he wanted the ball to do, the ball would do it. But his problem is that he was too keen to move to England. I didn't like the decision, at least in Italy or Spain, there, they allow you to play your skilled football without interfering with your play . In La liga or Serie A He would definitely get a chance to play for a big team, because they love skilled players over there. In England you stand no chance of playing for a big team if you're that skilled. They think it is not necessary."

In a sense what Okocha accomplished in Bolton is still a greater accomplishment than what most footballers accomplish (even in big teams). The role that Okocha had in that Bolton team is of greater significance than what a lot of footballers get, bit part roles in flashy teams, but not really anything defining.
Okocha was a Capo...he commanded that team and went toe to toe with the best teams in England. Yes Bolton doesn't sound glamourous on a resume, but this was also something of a darkhorse team with other legitimate players on the cards. In short, Okocha's Bolton was a bigger deal than it otherwise sounds. A legitimate threat in the EPL and arguably the MVP of that team.
Compare to players like Seydou Keita or Naby Keita who who were never the dominant forces in their teams.
As for what could have been, yes his talent was not maximised, but he got the message across at least.

Buhari, whose two terms thankfully ground to a constitutional halt in May. (One thing both democracies have going for them is that their leaders, however bad, have only two terms to swing the wrecking ball.) Under Buhari, growth per head also plunged to 0. An economic agenda drawn from the dusty pages of a 1970s protectionist handbook failed to do the trick. Despite Buhari’s promise to tame terrorism and criminality, violence flourished. Despite his reputation for probity, corruption swirled. FT

No. I think moving to England was necessary for Jay Jay and catapaulted him to another level of stardom.
The English league is the best marketed league in the world and is also the best followed league in Jay Jay’s home country (by far). Going to England gave Okocha the benefit of not playing for a major club but still getting major stardom. If he had for instance gone to Villarreal or Udinese, he won’t have nowhere near the level of stardom Bolton gave him.
On his larger point on Jay Jay’s potential to play for a big club. He forgets that Frankfurt and PSG were relatively big clubs when Jay Jay played for them. The likes of Milan & Man United had seen and for various reasons, passed on Jay Jay. PSG, for a lot of reasons, was ambivalent about giving him a new contract. And Jay Jay needed a new club.
Given that at the time he went to Bolton, Jay Jay had about 3 functional career years left, he simply didn’t have the time to be waiting around for Barcelona to deem him worthy.

Def need to see a source for this
We have been brainwashed by the Premier League that it's the best in the world. Nonsense. It's the best brand
Roy Keane: ITV 02/25/14
He says that we are currently "brainwashed" into believing that the Premier League is the best competition in the world, and that we are now a long way off dominating the Champions League again.
Gary Neville: Mirror: 12/23/14
I think Spain’s by far the best league.
