served Nigeria well. Multiple championships. Wish her the best. Wish other players like Musa can also retire before they are kicked out.
Winners do it the right way.

The difficulties of statistical thinking describes a puzzling limitation of our mind: our excessive confidence in what we believe we know, and our apparent inability to acknowledge the full extent of our ignorance and the uncertainty of the world we live in. The question is though; did insatiable Nigerians force her hands in making this decision. Would she retire if she had made that penalty kick? And would she retire if she was a Brazilian or American, Canadian or English where talents are recognized nurtured and tapped

make peaceful change impossible make violent change inevitable.

"It depends on what the meaning of the word 'is' is. If the--if he--if 'is' means is and never has been, that is not--that is one thing. If it means there is none, that was a completely true statement....Now, if someone had asked me on that day, are you having any kind of sexual relations with Ms. Lewinsky, that is, asked me a question in the present tense, I would have said no. And it would have been completely true."

The Falcons need to bring in younger talents. We saw the emergence of some of the U20 players at the World Cup. It was time to retire. Hopefully she goes into coaching. Might be the future Falcons coach.

Did they blame her for the penalty miss?
Not to my knowledge, but I wasn’t closely following the online response to our exit.
I sincerely hope not sha.

Let’s not forget she’s a young woman and her priorities might have changed.
Some of these girls want to start their families.
Ordega has already hinted that for her, “it can happen any time”.

While it is likely that some blamed her for the pk miss, I do not think it is the reason for this retirement. It would not be logical to think so and I will state why in a minute.

First, she is not the first to be blamed for a pk miss. On this site, another payer's miss was blamed far more often. This search for a culprit, someone to blame, is a known human trait. No big deal. Next loss, there will be another person and another finger pointing.

Why do I think Oparanozie quit? A critical part of this story is that she is retiring not only from the Falcons but also from playing club football. Surely, retiring from the club has nothing to do with missing a pk for Nigeria. What is more logical is that she has been frustrated by a lingering injury mentioned here by a poster. What is the medical prognosis for the injury? Was the sudden retirement based on a physician's recommendation? Those may be key clues to why she has made this announcement and I truly trust that this view is far more likely.

One of my favorite Super Falcons players. She leaves us with a lot of memories (her outstanding performance the 2016 WAFCON readily comes to mind). My best wishes to her in whatever she chooses to do next.

Memory lane. I'm just remembering this fantastical piece of journalism about Oparanozie

Though the Falconets did not win the FIFA Under-20 Women’s World Cup in Germany, the player who wore the No. 9 shirt for the team, Ms Desire Oparanozie, has won the hearts of many.

While Nigerian men are not known for throwing flowers and chocolates to someone that catches their fancy, the fair-skinned beautiful 17-year-old damsel, who terrorised the defence of their opponents at the Women’s World Cup in Germany, has enchanted them.

With her winsome smile and luscious lips that hint at deep secrets, coupled with her exploits at the World Cup, Oparanozie has ensnared a trail of men desirous to touch even only her skin.
