No room for the NCAA girls (Deborah Abiodun and Echiegini) and also Plumptre....Not sure why Plumptre was not invited.

The NCAA are in midseason, and we can afford to play Ethiopia without Abiodun and Echegini…
This is the same assemblage of players cobbled together for the canceled São Tomé tie, sans Onome and Flourish.

What the NFF should’ve done was to call up the best U20 players at the WAFU B Cup in Ghana (in addition to Ajakaye) in Flourish, Onyenezide and Kalu (and probably GK Mgbechi, who was voted to the 2022/23 NWFL Team of the Season). Even Comfort Olorunsho who was invited had been benched by the duo of Shukurat Oladapo and Chidinma Ogbuchi at WAFU B. Nonetheless, given the NWFL has been on break since July (though some of the teams are playing friendlies), there might be fitness concerns with regards to the home-based U20 players generally.

I like that Ajakaye was invited, as she is undoubtedly talented…
However, she had an unremarkable season in the NWFL, while Esther was arguably the MVP (made Team of the Season).

They play different positions, so it's not a direct competition. Looking at the midfield, I think Esther may have been a victim of being homebased. Although I don't know whom I would have dropped for her. Granted I haven't seeing Efih and Otuu play, so I don't know if she is better than either of them. Either way, her time will come.

As for Opeyemi, she is a speedster and a bonafide baller (..at least from the U20 tournament..) and can add real value to the SF team. The only player I question on the list is the the Awoniyi of the SF, Ifeoma Onumonu. She needs to start scoring to justify her invitations, for crying out loud. We don't need another Awoniyi with 2 goals in over 500 minutes of National team soccer in the SF.

Both good players. The coach likes Ajakaye potential. You can see the potential if you watch her play. Like Inaija said fhey play different positions.
Winners do it the right way.
