Golden Boots: Stellar year for Nigerian strikers across Europe this season

Post by iworo »

It’s been a stellar year for Nigerian strikers across Europe, with Victor Osimhen (Galatasaray, Turkey), Tolu Arokodare (Genk, Belgium) and Cyriel Dessers (Rangers, Scotland) all clinching league Golden Boots. You’d think with that kind of firepower, we’d be cruising through World Cup qualifiers. But instead, we’re struggling and it honestly feels like a paradox.

It speaks to deeper systemic issues, because the talent is clearly there up front. The underlying problems likely stem from lack of midfield creativity, poor tactics, inconsistent coaching, and let’s be real, the corruption ridden Nigerian Football NFF.

It would be heartbreaking if we miss the upcoming World Cup with the talent we have right now, especially in attack. This generation has the potential to do something special, but without fixing the issues behind the scenes, we risk letting it all slip away.
