Sounds ridiculous until you hear the full gist from the guy who brought the team to Atlanta. There is a video on this thread that you need to watch.felarey wrote: ↑Wed Jul 02, 2025 9:13 pm Interesting read, a lot of claims, but the most incredulous one is Delta offered their plane for free as contribution to the team. Did the team wear Delta training kits or put Delta logo on the roof of their dugout? Even when an airline offers free tickets like they do for staff, you still have to pay taxes, airport fees etc.
So you still believe Mikel paid for the plane?

Do you still believe that Shittu offered Siasia a €50,000 bribe to include Mikel in the Olympic squadLolly wrote: ↑Thu Jul 03, 2025 2:20 pmSounds ridiculous until you hear the full gist from the guy who brought the team to Atlanta. I don't know if Mikel paid for the plane but it's not as incredulous as a commercial airline making a plane available free of charge for a 9+ hour trip complete with crew, maintenance, fuel consumption, airport fees etc. What I remember on this site back then was we had an insider on CE that told us about some issues in a hotel and Mikel stepped in with his credit card. Someone then buttressed that with Mikel had been picking up the tab for the team.Lolly wrote: ↑Thu Jul 03, 2025 2:20 pmSounds ridiculous until you hear the full gist from the guy who brought the team to Atlanta. On a personal note, a family friend who's friends with one of Siasia's pals in Atlanta told me everyday nigerians were making arrangements with personal funds for supports such as catering for food, transportation etc.

There is a story behind the Delta plane . Watch the video. The guy who organised the trip has no reason to lie about it.felarey wrote: ↑Thu Jul 03, 2025 5:47 pmI don't know if Mikel paid for the plane but it's not as incredulous as a commercial airline making a plane available free of charge for a 9+ hour trip complete with crew, maintenance, fuel consumption, airport fees etc. What I remember on this site back then was we had an insider on CE that told us about some issues in a hotel and Mikel stepped in with his credit card. I don’t think anyone doubts that Mikel paid some of the hotel and feeding bills. Even Mikel said so in an interview he gave a few weeks after the tournament. In the interview, he claimed to have spent £30,000 on the team and never mentioned anything about paying for a plane. And he only mentioned paying for a plane when he started appearing on podcasts 8 years after the event. I can only guess he added jara to the story to make it sound sweet to their audience.

I have only focused my attention on the one I have more than enough evidence. Which is that Mikel did not play for any plane. I will repeat this a million times if I have to.TonyTheTigerKiller wrote: ↑Thu Jul 03, 2025 4:55 pmDo you still believe that Shittu offered Siasia a €50,000 bribe to include Mikel in the Olympic squadLolly wrote: ↑Thu Jul 03, 2025 2:20 pmSounds ridiculous until you hear the full gist from the guy who brought the team to Atlanta. On the other hand, I don’t know about Siasia’s allegation of being offered a bribe by Mikel’s agent. But I know agents have paid Siasia to select players in times past. There are at least two CE members who know what I am taking about.

If you repeated it a million times, you’d be wrong a million times …Lolly wrote: ↑Thu Jul 03, 2025 8:00 pmI have only focused my attention on the one I have more than enough evidence. Unfounded suspicion is most certainly not close to resembling knowledge in any way, shape or form

Mikel did not pay for any plane. Whether I say it once or a million times, it is the FACT! It won’t change.TonyTheTigerKiller wrote: ↑Thu Jul 03, 2025 8:21 pmIf you repeated it a million times, you’d be wrong a million times …Lolly wrote: ↑Thu Jul 03, 2025 8:00 pmI have only focused my attention on the one I have more than enough evidence. Re: Did Mikel lie about the flight tickets to Rio?
I've watched the video where he said he pretty much shamed Delta into providing an all expense paid trip for the team to Brazil. I quit when the interviewer started talking of taking crumbs from the master's table so if there was more info after that, I may have missed it. Could it be that Delta offered free seats, but got paid to cover taxes, airport fees, crew etc? Just saying as I dunno and we're still in limbo about what happened to some money involved, but it's plausible. Even more so when there's an Olympics going on and Delta knows there won't be shortage of people willing to pay a premium for a flight from Brazil. Could Mikel have contributed to such money, we dunno. One thing tho, I don't for once believe Delta provided zero dollars trip to Brazil.Lolly wrote: ↑Thu Jul 03, 2025 7:55 pmThere is a story behind the Delta plane . Watch the video. So the Nigeria contingent didn’t pay for the trip to Rio from Atlanta?
Yes, Delta Airline conveyed the team free of charge to Rio without a single dime being paid by the Ministry of Sports or the NFF. It was Delta Airline’s valuable contribution to the team and the arrangement was facilitated by my relationship with the airline. No payment whatsoever was made either by the NFF or the Ministry of Sports as none was expected by the airline as far as I am concerned and these are verifiable.
