Liberia has never play against Nigeria in Calabar. The only other time Nigeria was able to secure a 3 nil victory against Liberia was during the 1986 world cup qualifier. that game was played in Lagos.

You are wrong! For one, I was at the stadium. I can't remember the scorers now, but I remember that Charles Bassey, the only Calabar Rovers player in the then Green Eagles, hit a thunderous shot that hit the bar and had it shake frighteningly we thought the goalpost was going to fall.Muda Lawal of blessed memory was the best player on the pitch that day. I am positive about this match and I urge the Nigerian journos on the site to vindicate me by confirming it. I couldn't be hallucinating when I was present in a stadium!!!

Guy, Liberia and Nigeria only played ten times in their history. Nigeria won six times Liberia won three times and of course the recent 2 all draw in Monrovia. All of these meetings took place in Lagos, Port Harcourt, and Monrovia never in Calabar. You are debating a well seasoned Liberian football historian.
The first game between the sides was played in Lagos on October 20, 1984 when Nigeria beat Liberia 3-0 in the 1986 world cup qualifier. The two sides met again on November 4 in the same year for for the second leg which Nigeria won 1 goal to nil in Monrovia. That friendly you alleged to have taken place in 1980 was just a figment of your imagination. October 13, 2012 will be the sides first meeting in Calabar. You can take that to the bank.

I think Obong was actually right. Check this link from fifa website.

On the right side of the page, customize your search and search for liberia as our opponents from 1960 to date. You have won only once against Nigeria in 2000 with a score of 2-1. nd the issue of playing only in Monrovia is also not quite accurate. The last game against you was in Paynesville and there was a game in 02 played in Mopti.
The first game played with you guys was way back in 1963.
I trust fifa.com than the liberiansoccer site.

Fifa.com is not reliable. The website gathers its information from people like you and myself. There is a disclaimer on that site that says FIFA.COM is not responsible for the contents of information displayed. We have never played any game against Nigeria in Calabar before. Perhalps our women national team not the men. I searched the entire world wide web and cannot find any information on that game. You are however right about the AFCON game the sides played in Mopti Mali in 02. I just forgot to mention that city in my prior post. Thanks for the correction.

All of this is pointless.

Liberia will be beaten senselessly...and we don't need fifa.com to tell us that.

All this discussion about fortress or this or that is also not necessary. We don't need a fortress.

We just need a regulation size field, two goals on either side and a size 5 football and we will be booking our ticket to South Africa.

As a matter of fact, why wait for the formality to be concluded. We should begin booking our hotel reservations right away.

I hear the South African ref is Nigeria's nemesis, that is also of no importance. 50 free kicks, 5 penalties and 3 red cards will not award Liberia the ticket.

But the Liberians are welcome to come to South Africa regardless, we are short on Cheerleaders.
Buhari, whose two terms thankfully ground to a constitutional halt in May. (One thing both democracies have going for them is that their leaders, however bad, have only two terms to swing the wrecking ball.) Under Buhari, growth per head also plunged to 0. An economic agenda drawn from the dusty pages of a 1970s protectionist handbook failed to do the trick. Despite Buhari’s promise to tame terrorism and criminality, violence flourished. Despite his reputation for probity, corruption swirled. FT

I like your zeal. The Liberians will bring their pillows and lay down so you can pick the ticket for SA. Just don't let them to armbush your unpredictable bunch of which the Lone Star is more than capable.

Guess what? I went to FIFA.COM and manipulated the years to see if I can find that result. The website carried like 2 or 3 different results where Nigeria beats Liberia by a score of 3 nil. Funny thing is that when I customized the search to view the Nigeria vs Liberia results between 1872 thru 1978, the search came up with this same 3 nil result for Nigeria. Obong insinuated that the alleged friendly match was played in 1980. Again, fifa.com fails to list venue and dates on which these matches were played. Thus, the results from fifa.com are inadmissible in the court of public opinion.
