Re: CHAN QFs Updates
Tunisia stopped playing after going up by 1 goal. That's crazy!

My experience playing the north africans,Tunisians and Alegerians in particular...if you can survive the first 30minutes blitz, you stand a good chance of beating them over 90minutes. I never could explain this back then....how a team that looked deadly suddenly look so out of gas.

Re: CHAN QFs Updates
Truth is we have to give credit to the W African sides. Other than Niger they've played their football without fear
The only disappointment is Nigeria and I am beginning to think it comes down to Oliseh. I think the reasons will be dissected but for my part I believe he may have tried to tactically restrict his side too much.

Keita won it for Guinea. He saved Zambia's last pena and scored to seal it.

Re: CHAN QFs Updates
Tunisia only have themselves to blame after thorough dominating the first half. They really should've closed out the game by halftime or within 60mins knowing they have stamina issues (ironically a strength of west African teams).
As of Oliseh, I'm still trying to figure him out but he sort of strikes me as an AVB type who emphasizes philosophy over players. So if a lesser talented player better fits his philosophy, over time, he'll find ways to pick that player over the more talented option. That approach isn't summarily wrong but it requires time to implement: a luxury he will never be afforded by the NFF. The Nigerian situation requires a manager who can implement a philosophy that will better fit the best available players then play them in their best/ natural roles.
This CHAN was an opportunity for Oliseh to take an important step forward (very important given he's still a rookie manager) but he failed the extra credit test. Now with Egypt around the corner, he will begin to feel the pressure. How he handles the next two SE competitive games vs Egypt will make or break his job as the SE manager.
Good luck to the final 4. Kudos to Rwanda for hosting a wonderful event. Too bad they lost out. I was rooting for them and their very passionate fans. Cheers.

Re: CHAN QFs Updates
Difference between Mali and Nigeria was the Nigerian midfield and defence were a mess.
Mali far more composed, far more resilient, better organized..simply a better team.
