seems pretty close to our starting 11.

only Akpeyi would be replaced by Uzoho

Etebo by Ndidi

and Onuachu likely by Ighalo.

IMO Kalu and Chukwueze should be our 2 starting wingers.

I thought Rohr would have experimented more, but probably in the second half.

I expect Onuachu to be replaced by Iheanacho or Oshimen in the second half with one of these players to be cut.

Ajayi and Awaziem may also come in in the second with one also to be cut.

And so? Does it matter? Hasn't he been part of the team from inception? The team needs every opportunity to blend and tryout new tactics and not just new players.
He needs some time off to rest.
Firstly, this is a speculative list.

Secondly, if its correct, ROhr wants to get this team blending and hot from start. Imagine wining Zimbabwe, the first game of the AFCON series, with 3-0 or 4-0. It would be a massive boost to the team.

I believe Iwobi would be restedin the 2nd half tho.
The guy played last week in Europa cup final. It has been a long season. Iwobi shouldnt play today.
Winners do it the right way.

Rest from what exactly? He last played ten days ago, and as a substitute. He barely started any match in the past couple of months so he shouldn't be burned out.

Awwwww... Poor Iwobi! He played last week and had a long season.

VIRGIL VAN DIJK - Played 3 days AFTER Iwobi in the CL final. Played more games than Iwobi could think of, this season AND PLAYED FOR NETHERLANDS 3 DAYS BEFORE TODAY.

HARRY KANE and DELE ALI - Played 3 days AFTER Iwobi in the CL final. Played significant amount of games this season AND PLAYED SECOND HALF FOR ENGLAND 3 DAYS BEFORE TODAY.

but, Iwobi is tired....

Like I said, the line up is giving me goosebumps, I am completely Ok with Ndidi coming second half to replace Mikel or even Etebo. Etebo is an engine, and frankly would be more beneficial defensively. SE is back, this will not be a kick and rush team o. The ball would be played on the surface of the green grass (albeit bumpy)
But an attack of kalu, chukwueze, Onuachi with Iwobi creating behind them and also attacking, it FAYA!!!.

Dont forget Aina and Colins are also attacking and very skillful players. MIkel wold supply from deep while Etebo keeps the ball rolling, runs at the opponents, take hot shots and drops that killer pass when neccessary.

Lineup + How Super Eagles 4-3-3 Will Work Against Zimbabwe – Mikel As DM, Etebo CM, Iwobi AM

As exclusively reported by Owngoalnigeria.com, coach of the senior national team of Nigeria Gernot Rohr has released his starting lineup for today’s friendly game against Zimbabwe.

Loading...
The coach lined the players in a 4-3-3 formation which has captain of the team Mikel Obi playing as the deepest midfielder in a midfield three which also has Oghenekaro Etebo as central midfielder while Alex Iwobi will play in the number ten role as the attacking midfielder.

In defence, Ola Aina has stamped his authority as the first choice right full back with Jamilu Collins retaining his spot as the left back of the team while Kenneth Omeruo will pair Leon Balogun in central defence.

Attack is where the Eagles will be hoping to overpower the Zimbabwe team with the space of Samuel Kalu on the left and Samuel Chukwueze operating from the right. Paul Onuachu will occupy the top striker position.

Here’s the line up as revealed by Owngoalnigeria.com earlier.

If Onuachi is playing, Kalu should be on the right so he can wipe in those his fantastic crosses to Onuachi to head in. But if he has to cut back before whipping in, or he uses his left, it wold be less precise and effective.

I hope the full backs are very effective with their crosses to Onuachi while the wingers do the attacking and create more on the ground.
