This is more like the arsenal I know. Fact, that 70m was a ploy hatched by the clubs board in order to drive season ticket renewal. In previous years, it was 35m. Notice how no amount of money evet comes out of Wengers mouth. Its always either through some of the journalist arsenal has on pay and occasionally from Peter Hill wood himself. Yet every summer, when the transfer Window closes, we would have spent or even made a profit. Some idiots wants us to believe that it is Wendt that is refusing to spend money that's been made available. Yeah right. Which employer would allow an employee to go 9 years underinvesting in the company while producing sub par results and still have job security.

Tottenham have been linked with Benteke from the get go and rumour has it, tried to do a deal in January. Defoe plus cash is a good deal for Villa, they get a striker who could play alongside Bent (assuming he stayed) and a couple quid too.

Koscielny to Bayern, doubt that very much, they'll probably go for Hummels first. The out of character outburst by LK does suggest however that his agent's putting his name out there.

Monaco will never bid 50m for Jack. Not worth it.

Returning to Benteke, Kaji, forgerrit, Arsenal are not signing him, Wenger would rather guaranteed starts for mediocrity than competition for places. He'll move elsewhere, Spurs would be a good fit. Hopefully we can get another year on Olivier's contract and a new catheter bag for Diaby.

Andrey Arshavin, Denilson and Sebastien Squillaci will leave Arsenal at the end of June when their contracts expire.

The trio have struggled to feature in recent seasons, with playmaker Arshavin, 32, and midfielder Denilson, 25, both spending time away on loan.

Arshavin, who signed from Zenit St Petersburg for a reported £15m in 2009, is the most high-profile departure.

Arshavin's Arsenal record
•2008-09: Six goals in 15 appearances
•2009-10: 12 goals in 39 appearances
•2010-11: 10 goals in 52 appearances
•2011-12: Two goals in 27 appearances
•2012-13: One in 11 appearances

While he made 11 appearances this term, defender Squillaci, 32, played in one Champions League match at Olympiakos.

The former France international joined the Gunners from Spanish side Sevilla for an undisclosed fee in 2010, featuring in only 23 Premier League fixtures during a three-year spell.

Brazilian Denilson was brought from Sao Paulo in 2006, but spent the last two seasons back at his former club on a temporary basis after previously making 156 appearances while with the north London outfit.

For Arshavin, whom manager Arsene Wenger predicted in April was set to leave, he scored 31 times in 144 games for Arsenal.

He had appeared to have settled quickly following his January transfer four years ago, scoring all of the Gunners' goals in a 4-4 draw away at Liverpool the following April.

He netted 22 times over the next two campaigns, but only twice in 2011-12 before being loaned back to Zenit in February 2012.

His only strike this season came in Arsenal's 6-1 win over Coventry City in the League Cup last September.

The reason i say dont sell because those guys will just bank the money.Imagine 50m and Wenger decide to spend on two super stars?
We can even get Fabregas back self for 18m with that amount . Another 30m for a world class striker.

hummels wont join bayern, not only did he say so, he already refused an offer from them and agreed to cancel the buy out clause in his contract.

@Hank Anuku, dust off the chaise-lounge and stretch out the legs, Frasier will be in office in a pew. The penny that's dropping now, did so for some in 2005, Arsenal have no intention of being taken seriously. Their economic approach was outlined in a paper a few years back and a synopsis was provided in an earlier post. The talk of war chests and Wayne Rooneys is merely propaganda to ensure season ticket renewals. There is no 70 million, this number is more hypothetical than actual disposable income. The 11 million saved in wages by the recent departures is part of this so-called kitty. If Messi were available for 70m and declared a desire to join, the fictitious nature of this fiscal endowment would become all the more obvious. Wages, signing on fees, renewals/extensions, every spoon sits in this soup bowl.

As history has shown times over, there will be one marquee signing and a plethora of middle of the roaders, effectively making the squad no stronger than it was last season. Fact remains, if Arsenal intend on challenging, theirs must be a summer which sees a top keeper arrive, a proper left-back (Monreal doesn't rank top 5 in the Prem), a solid central midfielder, a top drawer forward left/centre forward. Unthinkable. One act of appeasement and a handful of Wengerist bullsh*t to follow. There is no ambition left in the club besides filling the buckets beneath the cash cow's udders.

#Failing to sign Benteke is "indefensible". Let's see what Abignale Jnr does.

I chuckled when I saw the Dein video yesterday .... I think it was a stab back at the Spanish who always like to tap up and unsettle players via the media :woot:

Expect many more rumours as the Premier league fixture list nears the horizon. Whilst Arsenal are being linked, others are inking contracts. City have added Navas and Fernandinho and thus, are stronger than they were last season. Chelsea have added Mourinho, hypothetically strengthening their cause. Arsenal have brought in Sanogo, who wont start and are being linked Molotov cocktail from Somezakistan, who, equally wont start. Ashley Williams arrives only when others have been shipped out, 70 million indeed. Julio Cesar is a possibility, if Fabianski is moved on.

Anyone expecting a line-up any better than last season's, is lost. There will be no major changes, yet major changes in all the clubs that finished above Wenger's ragtag band of Celebrate Fourths. So, the question is, as has always been, if there is no intention to strengthen in accordance with the demands for honours, how can Wenger suggest t'is a time to win trophies? How, when the gap is being widened by the day? Just tell the fickle fans its all about the moolah and be done with it.

#failure to sign Benteke would be indefensible.

People just like to whine and complain...In the last 12 months Arsenal have signed 4 full International players.

Podolski
Cazorla
Giroud
Monreal

The club has cleared the ranks this summer, so let them sign the young players needed to replace the ones that have left. That does not mean they are not negotiating for the right players to improve the first team....y'all need to take a chill pill!

@Skylo, agreed, they have signed four internationals, world-class? As Wenger claimed any addition would be. Fulham can also claim to have signed an international in Phillipe Senderos. The much ridiculed Ramsey, is a Welsh international and Gervais is chalking up caps for Cote D'ivoire. Does the title international signify a crossing of the threshold to worldly quality? Of those players signed, how many would make it into the 2005 line-up? But, why the nostalgia? How many would start for Everton? Would Monreal pip Baines? Podolski, Miralas? But, why the low sights, one should be looking up not down. Who of the four would start for any other the teams that finished ahead of Arsenal? Cazorla and nil else. Lest we forget Andre Santos was a Brazilian international when he arrived. Russian international Arshavin has recently departed.

T'is not about the titles these additions carry, but the quality they bring. Monreal is not good enough to be starting for a top European side aspiring for domestic/continental honours. Podolski and Giroud the same.

But alas, each to their own. Chill pill politely declined. Arsenal need to be better than United to win the league and better than Bayern to challenge for the Champions League. They know what needs to be done. Lets see what the summer brings.

#failure to sign Benteke is indefensible.
