Good game plan so far. We know what the Egyptians want to do.
Winners do it the right way.

The second penalty is justifiable IMO but I wouldn't have given it.
Re: Nigeria 2 Egypt 0 U23 (EteboX2) 1H
you need to watch the replays both are pens
"I first saw David Rocastle play in 1983 for the youth team. I remember coming home excitedly from the match and telling my family, "I've just watched the nearest thing to a Brazilian footballer you are ever likely to see - and he comes from Lewisham." - David Dein on Rocky Rocastle
Re: Nigeria 2 Egypt 0 U23 (EteboX2) 1H
The first one was a penalty. The defender should have had his hands on his side.
Winners do it the right way.

A bit harsh. He has had a couple of misplaced passes, but "really bad"?
We have been brainwashed by the Premier League that it's the best in the world. Nonsense. It's the best brand

I think Spain’s by far the best league.

Game is less interesting than the Nigeria V Mali match.
the comical penalties are the only thing that spiced it up. but I am almost falling asleep here nonetheless.

Buhari, whose two terms thankfully ground to a constitutional halt in May. (One thing both democracies have going for them is that their leaders, however bad, have only two terms to swing the wrecking ball.) Under Buhari, growth per head also plunged to 0. An economic agenda drawn from the dusty pages of a 1970s protectionist handbook failed to do the trick. Despite Buhari’s promise to tame terrorism and criminality, violence flourished. Despite his reputation for probity, corruption swirled. FT

Funnily enough the Egyptians are very good at Handball
They are two times Champions and four times Runners up in African competition. They are well versed in the art of the hand to ball.

I just watched it again. It did hit his hand. He made himself bigger and denied a goal scoring chance for Nigeria.marutimon wrote:The ball didn't even hit his hand.ohenhen1 wrote:The first one was a penalty. The defender should have had his hands on his side.

Watching the replays...I guess the ref called it by the book.
Both were handballs in the box and were penalties.
Rather harsh, though.

Stop talking nonsense!! I am not watching this game because I have no interest. But I'm sure Awoniyi's movement has been exceptional. Oliseh must call him up. Best young striker we have by a mile.airwolex wrote:Awoniyi is real bad

...2 clear penalties, i don't see why the Egyptians are complaining.
The first was too deliberate/intentional, the second, may be, may be not. But the player showed he was guilty asap from his behavior.
But the north Africans are pressing better, and may score. Their erratic and indiscipline behavior will cost them this match.

The Egyptian commentators are complaining in the studio about the two penalties. The 2nd one was not intentional. I think the 2nd one was harsh.

Re: Nigeria 2 Egypt 0 U23 (EteboX2) HT
Just returned from go-slow to see the HT highlights. Looks like the first pk shouldn't have been awarded as it appeared to hit the Egyptians knee. I'm almost sure of that one. But the second one was certainly a pk. Anyways, can't complain about the score line but I bet CE Egyptians see it differently.
