Re: Italy 0 England 0 Extra time
How did a game with this statistics go to penalty?
Shots; England 8- 31 Italy
On target; 4-18
Possession; 37 - 63
I missed the game but saw the penalties. I guess better team based on stats won.

Yeah, but Gerrard singlehandedly dragged Liverpool from the dead (0-3) and won the match against AC Milan...marko wrote:this is 2012 and international football!!! club football is different! english premiership is dominated by top talent that are not english!!femibyte wrote:You wanna ask AC Milan what he did to them in Istanbul in 2005?marko wrote:why don't england produce the likes of Pirlo?? the group was crap, definitely flattered englan to be honest, Ukraine, hardly world beaters, sweden, average side there to make up numbers, france, flattered to deceive, England need a new footballing philosophy but i think pride will never let them change the perceived arrogance, everyone raves about gerrard but what did he do against a top team???

That aint saying much. England simply a bunch of plodders that lack finesse.

Every time I have watched Cole take a penalty, he missed. Except for the Bayern CL game.

One thing that annoyed me was how the BBC commentator kept on referring to Diamante as "the West Ham reject"... that's just damn disrespectful

@Hank Anuku, if for a second you believe Wilshere will be allowed to play with the freedom of Pirlo, you're even more of a fool than your trousers on back to front suggest. Wilshere will be the next Scott "puts his body on the line" Parker. T'is not in their nature to allow creative freedom. They had Joe Cole and stuck him so far left, he was mistaken for a Labour MP.

Re: Italy 0 England 0 FT (Italy wins 4-3 PKs)
It's been almost 50 years since England last won a trophy (its only one ever that they won thanks to corrupt refs and home field advantage), yet they continue to defend in massive numbers, play long ball, and rely on speed and brawn rather than skill and brains.
Did they expect to win this tournament by winning 3 straight knockout stage matches on penalties? Did they expect to win today by defending with 8 players and hopelessly punting the ball towards Rooney? Did they expect to win today by having Glen Johnson attempt their best chance of the game? Tournament after tournament they use the same approach and yet they never learn. England desperately needs a footballing revolution. Blow it all up from the ground up and teach kids how to play this sport properly.
Italy are not that good and their 4 matches in this tournament prove it. Their only win came against the worst team in the tournament. Otherwise they've only been able to match their opponents or slightly exceed them in quality. Unfortunately I think Italy are more than capable of beating Germany which would be a shame because Italy do not deserve to even be in the position to knockout Germany this late in the tournament. This Italian team is fortunate this tournament has been littered with mediocrity.
