Amodu goes for speed and hustle

Posted: 2009-03-29 14:15

Super Eagles head coach, Shuaibu Amodu has left out his captain, Nwankwo Kanu from the starting line-up in Sunday’s World Cup qualifier against Mozambique.
Amodu, rather went for younger players that will ensure speed an hustle in this all important game for Nigeria’s senior national football team.

In goal will be Vincent Enyeama while Chidi Odiah, Taiye Taiwo, Daniel Shittu and Obinna Nwaneri make up the defence.

John Mikel Obi and Sani Kaita will battle it out in midfield while a four man attack of Obafemi Martins, Ike Uche, Obinna Nsofor and Osaze Odenwingie will be expected to lead Nigeria’s hunt for goals and glory.

This is a fast team up front. Look for Mikel to take up this Pre chelsea role of AM.

Can't argue too much with that.
Maybe Kalu Uche, Ejide and Apam will feel left out, but that's a good line up with lots of flexibility.

The key in MF will be what is done with the two flank players. It maybe Osaze on the right and Uche upfront.

Would've preferred Kalu on the right for his defensive attributes.

Good lineup. I would have preferred to see Kalu Uche in place of Nsofor since Kalu has been playing consistently at his club; however, Amodu knows better.

Good luck SE.

That line up looks the type that would put 4 past their opponents at this stage if we play how we are supposed to.

looks like a team built for counter attacking football. I don't expect a passing clinic today.

Lineup seems a bit ambitious as I'd sooner have an additional more defensive minded player in midfield instead of Nsofor however can't fault them for going all out. I fail to see how those four attackers will work together but hey what do I know...may the better team win.

are you fricking kidding me, did you watch the colombia game, or siera leone away, or the Austria game or the Brentford massacre. Nwaneri is a poor excuse for a defender, you will all soon realise this truth.
