Cybereagles WC 2010 Prediction Game - Round 1

RULES FOR PARTICIPATING

1. All Participants will be divided into the same number of groups as the actual tournament being played. After Round 1 predictions are submitted, all participants will be randomly divided into groups, except for the top ranked Predictors (according to the most current prediction game world ranking) who will be seeded such that they are evenly distributed into each group

2. All Participants must submit their predictions to the required thread or Private Message (PM) (during knockout and third round games) by the day and time deadline. There will be no exceptions. Your prediction will not be counted if you predict late

3. You are not allowed to EDIT your scores once it is posted. Therefore it is imperative that you give your prediction much thought before posting them

4. After the Second round, you will be directed to send your predictions to Robbynice

5. Your results will be based on a point system (see below) and the top two highest (Like the actual tournament) point scorers going through to the next round (plus the next 4 best predictors – regardless of which group they come from - for tournaments with the 24-team format. For pairings, as per actual tournament, but lowest ‘third place predictor’ will play highest 1st place predictor that is due to play a 3rd place predictor)

6. The following will be used in this order to break a deadlock on points – Total Goals Scored in Tournament (1 ‘goal scored’ = predicting the actual score of a game); Average Points (Total Points/Games Played) and then score (and then goals scored) in the previous round (going back further rounds if there is still a tie) and then lots.

7. Knockout Stage will be conducted like the tournament with each member playing against a knockout opponent. Points given in the knockout rounds are for the rounds only (No accruals after Group games)

8. Scoring
5 Points = Exact Score of the actual match played, including a drawn match
3 Points = Predicting the winner with the right goal differential but not exact score. This includes predicting a draw for a tied match but with the inexact score
2 Points = Predicting a winner but missing the correct score by one goal by either team in either direction (e.g Predicting 3 – 0, 4 – 1, 3 - 2 , or 2 – 1 on a match that ended 3-1)
1 Point = Predicting a Winner for any other combination
0 Point = Other
If you Predicted a draw for a match that ended with a winner, you get no points regardless of the fact that you may have been off by one goal.

Additional Scoring rules in knockout stage:
1. The above scoring will stay exactly the same for scores at FT or ET (if it is needed). That is, if extra time is needed, it is only the final score after extra time that is used as the final prediction (in these cases, the full time score will be rendered irrelevant!)
2. Also, if you predict a winner by one goal, and that team wins on Penalties, you will score 2 points (equivalent to predicting a winner but missing the correct score by one goal)
3. If you predict a winner by more than one goal, and that team wins on Penalties, you will score 1 point (equivalent to predicting a winner for any other combination)
4. If you predict a draw after extra time and you are correct (hence winning either 5 or 3 points depending on if it is the exact score or not) and you are bold enough, you can also predict which team will win on penalties – this will give you 1 bonus point if you guess the winning team on penalties, but if you guess the wrong team, 1 point will be subtracted from your score. Hence, by including the winner on penalties, you will score either 6 or 4 points for an exact score, or 4 or 2 points for a tied match but with an inexact score.
5. Finally, if you predict a winner on penalties and that team wins in regulation time (FT or ET), you will receive just 1 point…
6. Even if a tournament has no 3rd place match, the losing semi-finalists must still submit their predictions for the final game, to serve as the “predictions 3rd place match”. They will still place only 3rd and 4th, even if they predict the final match better than the prediction game finalists.
7. If a tournament does have a third place match, the prediction final will be decided by [(2 × Final Game Prediction) + 3rd place match prediction]. The predictions 3rd place match will be decided by [Final Game Prediction + (2 × 3rd place match prediction)]

Couldn't read the rules & regulations.... Too Long... But these are my expectations. I expect Nigeria, Ivory Coast & South Africa to make it to the second round. I believe these 3 teams can beat ( except Netherlands, Germany & Brazil ) and be beaten by any team. One should just hope they are lucky enough to avoid these teams.
