Wilson Oruma hangs up his boots

Post by Zelex »

THE captain of Nigeria's cadet national team, Golden Eaglets to the nation's second conquest of the FIFA U-17 World Cup at Japan '93, Wilson Oruma has finally thrown in the towel and called it quit with the round leather game.

In the wake of an earlier hint of his retirement, reported exclusively by brilafm.net last Friday, Oruma stated during a media briefing in Lagos on Tuesday that his exit from competitive football is now official.

Oruma stated during an emotion-ladden farewell speech that he has enjoyed the game and finds it hard to say good-bye, but also admits that no one can go on for ever.

Oruma, a true midfielder in the mold that is missing in Nigeria today. Thank you for the memories.

^^ Nothing wrong in playing in Malta if it allows him to plan better for retirement.

Or maybe he cann make it to the MLS.

As far as performances be concerned, the towel's been in the ring so long it boasts sweat from the head of Dino Bravo.

We have been brainwashed by the Premier League that it's the best in the world. Nonsense. It's the best brand
Roy Keane: ITV 02/25/14

He says that we are currently "brainwashed" into believing that the Premier League is the best competition in the world, and that we are now a long way off dominating the Champions League again.

I think Spain’s by far the best league.

Keshi said that before the team arrived South Africa that he told skipper Joseph Yobo that the Eagles were going to win the Cup but the former Everton defender did not believe.

How Nigeria went from the likes of Okocha, Oruma, Adepoju, Oliseh to the scrubs we have to day is emotionally overwhelming..

Kudos to a proper National legend

He would have made a lot more contributions if given a fairer chance at the national team.
