I think that this time, age has to be a factor. Rebuilding with too many relatively older players will not help the super Eagles. It is good news that Ayinla is still balling. The Coach's duty will be to keep an eye on these older players who are still doing very well, and invite them to beef up the team when the need arises.

I don't know any young CB's currently available since Adeleye and Apam are injured...I'd rather take Ayila than the likes of Shittu.

He will be our best option at CB as a good passer of the ball.
YoBo (police ball) and Ayinla(passer) good match.

BTW he just joined them, he didn't play a game in Serie C before joining the SE for the friendly, lets get the facts right. So you are basing your claims that because Odibe plays in Serie B and without watching the Sierra Leone game.

Serie C, not B! If we have a CD that is playing in Europa League then yea I think he deserves to get a look-in over someone who hasn't played a game all season in Serie B and then got traded to Serie C. He played only 2 games last season and none this season, so what exactly is the standard that was used to invite him?

What does watching the Seirra Leone game have to do with anything? I'm saying he shouldn't have even been invited in the first place as there should be a standard in place used to invite a player. There can be no justification for inviting/capping a player that hasn't played a single game ALL SEASON in Serie B of all places and was consequently traded to a Serie C team. Ayila just played for us at the last world cup and is a known quantity. So if anything Ayila has played in a competitive game more recently than Odibe (if you really want to go down that route).
The funny thing about you is that you cannot be consistent, you were ragging on Emenike because he plays in Turkey, yet you are so willing to give a Serie C player a chance and you don't see how silly your reasoning is.

Watching the Sierra Leone game has everything to do with it. We have had the Peter Ijeh of the world score 30 goals for club and have been total bust at International level. AT the end of the day all that matters is the performance the players puts forward in GWG not club.

Maybe it has something to do with what YOU are talking about, but it has nothing to do with my point...which is that he hadn't done enough to warrant a call-up....you can debate that if you want...anything else na ya own palava!

regardless of what anybody says ayila has been and probably still is one of our better midfielders, not to mention that he can play CB and does so for a CL club. I will take Ayila as a midfielder over Etuhu, Kaita, Sunny Stevens, etc., and I'm sure as a CB he is better than Odibe. Our lack of CB's and lack of depth in midfield almost demands that Ayila be a part of the SE setup. How old is he anways. I don't know if this player should be discarded, if anything his versatility and our lack of CB's warrant his inclusion.

I have to agree with Spastic and Vancity Eagle here. Rebuilding doesn't mean that we throw the baby out with the bath water. It means phasing out the old guard over a period. One of the reasons we have been struggling at the senior level over the past few years is that there was a poor transition from the 1994/96/98 teams to the 2002 world cup babies. Lets learn from our history.
We still have some from the old guard that deserve a call up. Taiwo as an example has 2 ANCs and a world cup left in him. Up front the Uche bothers are still lethal. We can weed out the known suspects like Jana, Shittu etc.

KPOM !
I believe this what SSS is doing. He is building a transitional team with a core of the best from the current team and a gradual infusion of new players. That is why it is essential for him to play as many friendlies as possible.

Correction. I meant Mace and Vancity Eagle. I was mixing up the twins joined at the hip.
