How good is Xtiano Ronaldo?

Post by airwolex »

I am still disappointed by his lack of impact/production for the Portuguese National team but was astounded to find out (correct me if i'm wrong) that he was the fastest player in Real Madrid history to reach 100 goals.

Not impressed? Consider the talent that has played for Real, the likes of: Raul, Ronaldo de Lima, emilio butragueno, Figo, Hugo Sanchez, Di Stefano, Van Nistelroy etc.

Also in his second and third seasons in the La Liga he broke the Pichichi scoring records. In short it took him two seasons to do what Messi couldn't do in 8.

Are we actually underestimatig this guy? At the very least he may be one of the best 5 goal scorers ever to have played the game.

...same like messi, same like numerous Nigerian players. Seems their FAs don't pay that much :woot:

Ronaldo is good and he is arguably the best player in the world and that is a fact. Most don't like his style cause they feel he is not humble and so full of himself and as a result hate on him but the fact if the matter is the guy is all that plus a bag of chips.

Airwolex like i said in during the Madrid game on Saturday, if CRon had as good a supply as Messi at Barcelona (Xavi and Iniesta midfield) i think that boy would bang in 100 goals in a season. He is a goal machine. What i like is he scores all manner of goals

He's a monster; what's even more impressive is the way he stepped up in the last two games against Athletico and Gijon.

I think a lot of his shine's been taken by Messi.

Mcal,

It's funny how today's top players struggle with their NT's. Guys like Messi, Ronaldo and Ibrahimovic are relatively poor for their Countries.

Messi is arguably the best player in the world, as the WPOY awards show. Of course, one can disagree though.

Can you change the thread title please as it may be considered insensitive to those in the Middle-East, 'How good is C*%#tiano Ronaldo', would be more appropriate.

Maybe because the best players today are concentrated in a few teams that the disparity in service they receive at the club vs their national teams is a lot more glaring.

The case for my own MESSI:

1) The only player to have scored more than 12 Champions League goals in a single season. A record that was held by master goalscorer Van Nistelrooy, until the Argentine waved that record goodbye in 2012.

2) The all-time record goalscorer for Barcelona. A record that was held by Caesar Rodriguez and a record that had stood since 1955 until Messi waved it goodbye in 2012.

3) The only player to have been named the FIFA World Player of the Year on 3 successive occasions.

4) He successfully scored in 10 successive league games for FC Barcelona. A record that was set by Mariano Martin in 1943, until it was broken in 2012.

5) The only player to have 5 goals in a single game in the Champions League era.

6) He has now scored 14 goals in this seasons Champions League, and unless he is beaten, he could very well equal Gerd Muller's record of being the only player to have been the top scorer on four occasions in the Champions League. Messi might be the first to do it on 4 successive occasions. And guess what? Ronaldo has only scored 8 goals, and needs 6 goals more to even draw level with Messi, and then hope that Messi does not score any more goals.

If the above mentioned facts does not illustrate greatness, then I don't know what does..
Please keep in mind that all this was achieved at the tender age of 24..
There's more, but this should be enough for now.

Anyway this is about C-Ron, I won't lie I've always liked him but never thought he'd be one of the all time greats. The way he's scoring now, like it or not, we all have to sit up and take notice.

He scores a lot of goals because he is allowed to take so may shots (41 goals from 226 shots). He is an excellent player, but his allround game is not as good as good as Ronaldo de Lima, emilio butragueno, Figo, Hugo Sanchez, Di Stefano

Do you know that since the age of 19, Messi has been nominated for every WPOY?
In other words, he has never missed a nomination and has never been outside the top 3 players in the world, since he became a first team regular. :taunt: :taunt: :taunt:

He is given his due. The problem is MEssi!
If there was no Messi, then he would have won more WPOY without question.. But there is a Messi and that's bad for El Cheat.
