The FA stood up for England’s two shootout flops on Monday night by branding racist Twitter attacks on them as ‘appalling and unacceptable’.
Police have started an investigation into offensive abuse aimed at Ashley Young and Ashley Cole shortly after they failed to score from the spot in the Euro 2012 quarter-final against Italy.
The FA, in backing both players as Roy Hodgson’s defeated side returned home, said: 'We are concerned at the allegations of abuse aimed at England players Ashley Cole and Ashley Young on Twitter.
'They have just given everything for the national team at Euro 2012 and it is appalling and unacceptable that messages of an abusive type are being posted. We support any police investigation in identifying who is behind this.'
In a series of offensive postings one user goaded others who criticised him for his rants.
In one post the tweeter wrote: 'All I got to say is this was just a joke, you guys need to relax, police know i was kiddin around and they won’t bother me hopefully, cheers.'
Another said: 'The police won’t bother me mate I can assure you that.'
A Metropolitan Police spokesman said: 'We are aware of alleged racist comments on Twitter following last night’s England game and have launched an investigation.
'The allegation was made to MPS on 25 June by a member of the public relating to comments on a Twitter account supposedly based in London.
'There have been no arrests at this early stage.
'The MPS is examining possible offences under Section 18/19 Public Order Act 1986.'

I have to applaud England for taking a strong stance against racism in all forms. See Liam Stacey

That is the difference. Other countries are being fined by UEFA and don't hold their 'fans' accountable.
Guess which country this is
WARSAW, Poland -- UEFA has fined the _______ soccer association $31,200 after fans displayed a neo-Nazi flag at a European Championship match.
______ has now been disciplined for fans' behavior at all three Euro 2012 group-stage matches, and paid fines totaling $50,000.

It is
YOUR IQ that is in serious question. There you go lapping up English hypocrisy, thanking your massa for not throwing you a banana. But watch and listen carefully to their biased football commentary (very quick to blame black players for a mistake, and slow to blame white players), the demonisation of Balotelli, the conduct and actions of their officials, (such as inexplicably leaving Ferdinand out and including racist John Terry), the numerous spiteful comments on their boards by English fans, and the anti-black racism is very much in evidence in England.

Bloody Idiots.

No matter how hard they try it's extremely difficult to conceal their barbaric tendencies. No wonder Europe as a continent is socially uncivilized.

There is still a good chunk of racists over there.

Europe as a whole is still stuck in the 50's - 60's when it comes to race issues with black people.

Ofcourse it would be, that's the original homeland of the whites.

In other words

Nice try, Uncle Tom Slaveboy.

Much as I am biased, England is much more vigilant and progressive than any Eastern European nation in combatting and punishing racism. Believe me, Croatia is doing a lot of soul searching on the matter. It's been stated that list of trouble makers will be maintained and shared to prevent them from attending matches.
Remember, England first did this, leading the way. Sure, they too have work to do. But I think they are genuinely trying...and I can't understand why a Black person rooting for England would be an uncle tom.
England may suck at football, but it's by and large a progressive society.
Cheers, Mate

German fans are also guilty of such behaviour, I spoke to somebody was in the stadium and person said that he did not notice such things, so it must have been by a small number of people. Interestingly though biggest german tabloid (Bild) has been quiet on it while making headlines about the Russian, Spanish and Croatian fans.
