Keshi Drops Yobo against Kenya, Martins retunrs

PRESS RELEASE

Enyeama leads 15 overseas-based pros for Kenya

Israel-based goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama tops a list of 15 overseas-based professionals that Super Eagles’ Head Coach, Stephen
Keshi, has invited for this month’s 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifying match against the Harambee Stars of Kenya.

Eleven of those called were in the squad that lifted the Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa last month, while rapid-raider Obafemi Martins makes a return, and there is a surprise call for Ukraine-based Babatunde Michael, who played for the Dream Team at the inaugural CAF U-23 Championship in Morocco 15 months ago.

Midfielder Nnamdi Oduamadi, who also shone brightly for the last U-23 squad in their qualifying games, is called. But the biggest dark horse, so to say, is Portugal-based midfielder John Ogu.

African champions Nigeria take on Kenya’s Harambee Stars in one of the Day 3 matches of Group F of the 2014 FIFA World Cup race. Nigeria lead the group on four points while Kenya bring up the rear with only one.

They clash at the U.J. Esuene Stadium, Calabar on Saturday, 23rd March.

THE LIST
Goalkeepers: Vincent Enyeama (Maccabi Tel Aviv, Israel); Austin Ejide (Hapoel Be’er Sheva, Israel)

Defenders: Efe Ambrose (Celtic FC, Scotland); Elderson Echiejile (FC Braga, Portugal); Kenneth Omeruo (ADO Den Haag, The Netherlands)

Midfielders: John Mikel Obi (Chelsea FC, England); Ogenyi Onazi (SS Lazio, Italy); Fegor Ogude (Valerenga FC, Norway); John Ogu (Academica de Coimbra, Portugal)

Forwards: Ahmed Musa (CSKA Moscow, Russia); Brown Ideye (Dynamo Kyiv, Ukraine); Victor Moses (Chelsea FC, England); Babatunde Michael (Kryvbas Kryvyi Rih, Ukraine); Nnamdi Oduamadi (A.S Varese 1910 FC, Italy); Obafemi Martins (Levante FC, Spain)
...all for the good of the game, for 'football is full of idiots and egotists; men obsessed with squeezing out every last penny from the game that gives them a living'.

1 Naija go cry oh!!! Nice to see Odumadi back in the scheme of things.

How is Babatunde Micheal's form?

He will soon tell us Yobo is too big for qualifiers, that they are saving him for the real thing :winking:

Decent squad. Would have liked to see Anichebe and one out of Nosa, Lukman, Chibuike, or Olaitan invited. Ogu is an interesting prospect, but not sure how much he offers offensively. Also still prefer Nsofor to Odumadi. Don't know anything about Michael.

Surprised with Babatunde's invite, hasn't really been on form this season but is a decent prospect. Major plus is that he is a natural left-sided player.

Overall, a good squad list. Nnmadi Oduamadi is currently injured. Unfortunately do not know the type of injury.

what's Keshi got against Anichebe.......Ideye proved that he cant be relied upon to score goals but an ANC winning coach deserves the benefit of the doubt

enyi ideye is better than anichebe. anichebe cannot score goals although he is very powerful he would be useful in a 442 formation

Nosa has not played a game since the Nigeria vs Zambia game. It is understandable. I am sure he is still part of the team.

Kone, Anichebe scores goals and holds up the play, for SE, Ideye does not score and cant hold up play. given Anichebe's stop start season, he has scoed 7 goals and created 8. thats not bad in the EPL

Good list except for the invitation of Efe Ambrose. That invitation serves no clear purpose since Efe Ambrose is suspended for this game.

Yea. Hopefully NFF is aware of this oh as there seems to be confusion about his suspension. We dont need a pts deduction for something as stupid as this.
