Holland powerhouse Ajax Amsterdam did not offer a contract to Nigeria youth - teamer Moses Daddy - Ajala Simon.

Only two months ago, the Eredivisie campaigners announced with pride that they had a pre - contract agreement with Simon, then a 17 - year - old.

Days after the Flying Eagles exited the Fifa Under 20 World Cup, Simon traveled to the Netherlands to start pre - season training with Ajax Amsterdam.

Though the 18 - year - old winger scored in a friendly for the Ajax senior team in their second exhibition game against De Graafschap on July 13, he did not impress the coaches during training.

Ajax Life, one of the mouthpieces of the four - time European champions, said on Wednesday that Moses Daddy - Ajala Simon has flown back to Nigeria.

''Today he travelled back to Nigeria by plane without a contract. Ajax wasn't convinced by his qualities,'' the press office of Ajax Amsterdam told the Dutch magazine.

English agent Tony Harris brokered the deal that would have seen Simon join the capital team.

Best of luck to the kid (I hope he will grow from the experience)...
But (unlike OTITOKORO) can't say that I'm surprised based on his Toulon showing.

Hopefully he uses this as a motivation.

I was of the wrong impression that he was already sealed with them. It could have been huge for his development as AJAX is tops in breeding young talent.

Now this got me wondering, his agent must be good.

Why did Rabiu Ibrahim's agent not get him such an opportunity? Well PSV is not bad but AJAX is AJAX.

Also, why did Rabiu not sign with John Ola Shittu? It looks like have a good agent makes a great difference in these deals.

Rabiu is not the talent that you guys think he is... he is slow, small, no physical presence and doesn't have the vision for senior level ball at this level....

I personally do not rate U-17 players, I have to see them in an U-20 setting before I can really grade them on their talent, but this guy is not it.

Bros,
It seems like Ajala's agent is also a Journo as well.

And Rabiu only has himself to blame. VVV Venlo (where he was guaranteed PT) wanted to sign him, but his eyes were on the money.

He should keep his chin up. Ajax may still offer his son a contract in the future.

I see.

How much money are we talking about here (difference between what VVV was offering him and what he went for)?

The boy still an exasperating player to watch, skillful but very inefficient, his game annoys me sha cuz he could be so much better. Imagine he would dribble and beat someone and instead come back to try to do another dribble and end up losing the ball.

That's why he's young, his game will mature with time.

He is really not much more frustrating to watch than Ahmed Musa. At least he is a few years younger than Musa, and has not been playing consistently for SE. Considering Musa is older and has been on the block for a long time now, I would say Musa is far more frustrating. In fact for me Simon has been better than Musa in the last few matches.

Ask yourself, has Musa really improved in all these years? That's my fear for Simon, just can't stand dumb player who don't keep it simple. If your level never reach Ronaldo stop trying to drimble drimble and improve on your basics and decision making.

I agree with you bro. Simon is frustrating at times but I see potential. Same with Musa, only Musa is older and has been with SE for much longer.

Therefore those who criticize Simon without criticizing Musa are being dishonest.

Musa's decision making is pretty good and if you can't see that he has improved as a player in the past few yrs then you must have blinders on.

Nigerians like to latch onto a players bad trait and exaggerate how bad the trait is. By the way if you watch Moses in club games you will see he actually makes good decisions with ball.
