AMEOBI WATCH™!!!

Post by The YeyeMan »

Ameobi scored tonight.

I know, I was stunned too.

Just been watching the highlights and he scored a deflected goal against minnows Morecambe in the League Cup.

He also missed a simple one on one - blazing the shot over the bar when put clear through. Other than that he was nothing but pure agrarian gra gra.

His brother, Sammy Ameobi, also scored. Does Sammy want to play for Nigeria? Let's find out in ten years when his career is coming to an end. :D

I'll be using this thread to keep you all updated of Mr Ameobi's exploits this season. If this thread slips to Page 43, don't worry, it was meant to be. You can always retrieve it by entering "Ameobi" and "gra gra" into the forum search.

Absolute garbage, struggled to impose himself on Morecambe, no ability on the ball, heavy-legged right from the get go, with the composure of a sex offender at a swimming gala. Horse sh*t.

Nigeria Call Up Boosted Ameobi's Confidence -Toons Boss Alan Pardew

Posted On Thursday, 29th August 2013

Nigerian striker Shola Ameobi

http://www.kickoffnigeria.com/news/3682 ... lan-pardew

Newcastle United boss Alan Pardew says Shola Ameobi has been lifted by his Nigeria selection.

The striker was on the mark in their Capital One Cup win at Morecambe.

Pardew said: “He’s actually looked the best I have seen him in this pre-season. I think the Nigeria selection has actually given him a boost, I can see that in his eyes.

“He is looking forward to the international coming up and I think that’s benefited us.

“Sometimes we moan about that; this time it’s been a bit of a lift for him and his confidence and everything. He was terrific in the second half.”

Nonsense. Why was he saying stuff about non existent clauses in contract pre afcon?

No doubt euphoria of last night's win, it won't take him long to start moaning about Ameobi going away on international duties again.

With Gomis and Ba on the radar, Pardew will be happy for Ameobi to reside in Nigeria for the full 38 games.

Abeg, moderators, rename this thread: "AMEOBI WATCH" as I'd intended. This thread is about watching Shola's movements, and even though he'll mostly be static on the bench this thread must be titled appropriately.

AMEOBI WATCH.

Thanks.

Latest vs. Malawi

Ameobi came on as a late sub against 10 man Malawi with the game already won and showed some decent touches. His main contributions were being clattered by the goalkeeper of demoralised 10 man Malawi and blasting a shot against the keeper from close range. Who knows, with a bit more composure he may have scored that chance against the tired and demoralised 10-man Malawi keeper.

A reward for finally agreeing to play for Naija. But, he is still a good player. He is good for Naija as a sub and not as a starter.

you are right on the money; it is at best a token strategic geopolitical call-up and you can weigh the advantages just as you would the advantages but I favor the move.
make peaceful change impossible make violent change inevitable.

Latest vs. Burkina Faso (B team friendly)

Apparently Ameobi scored. I didn't watch the game and haven't seen the goal so will have to assume the 'goal' was a deflected one. Until then, I will wait for the official FIFA account of the game which will possibly credit it as own goal.

Amoebi thrilled with 'account opener'
by Andrew Randa 11 September 2013, 08:35

Nigeria and Newcastle United striker Shola Ameobi is happy that he has broken his goal scoring duck for the Super Eagles and hopes that the goals will start to roll in.

The tall striker opened his Nigeria account in the 4-1 demolition of Burkina Faso in an international friendly on Tuesday in only his third cap and is now hoping it will be the beginning of more goals for Nigeria.

"Obviously I'm delighted to have scored my first goal for Nigeria. It's feels great that it finally came.

"You'll agree with me that it's being a long journey for me to get here and this goal shows I've made the right decision. It's not been easy, but I'm glad it's al working out for good." he told supersport.com in Kaduna.

Ameobi scored Nigeria's third goal with a crisp finish after some beautiful interchange of play between Obinna Nsofor and Brown Ideye, something that has impressed the Kogi-born player.

"This team has potentials. We have a lot of talented youngsters and it is the duty of experienced players like me to help them in their transition.

"I like what i see in the national set up and I believe that Nigeria has all it takes to qualify for the World Cup. I want to give my all to make sure that happens.

"It's unfortunate I missed the African Cup of Nations triumph. A lot of things happened that I don't want to go into. I'm here now and that's what matters.

Nigeria defeated Burkina Faso 4-1 in an international friendly played in Kaduna with goals from Brown Ideye who got a brace, Shola Ameobi and Emmanuel Emenike. http://www.supersport.com/football/supe ... unt_opener
