Mourinho tells Chelsea to land Manchester City target


Jose Mourinho wants Chelsea to beat Premier League rivals Manchester City to the signing of AS Roma star Daniele de Rossi.

The Real Madrid manager is widely expected to leave the Santiago Bernabeu for Stamford Bridge this summer.

Mourinho is already identifying transfer targets for Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich and has told the oligarch he wants the Italy international, according to the Daily Express.

Former Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini was reportedly a keen admirer of the 29-year-old, though the ex-Inter Milan boss was sacked this week.

However, the report suggests Manchester City’s scouts are still keen on recruiting De Rossi, though they could be scuppered by Mourinho’s intervention.

Chelsea’s interim manager Rafael Benitez claimed this week that Abramovich would sanction £100million of transfers this summer for the man that succeeds him.
This has led to much speculation over which players Chelsea would be purchasing and the latest report claims De Rossi is top of his list of midfielders.

Mourinho has also reportedly asked Abramovich to sign Borussia Dortmund striker Robert Lewandowski as he looks to bolster the firepower up front in the Chelsea squad.
