Goal keeping and midfield not quality
Re: Nigeria squad: New dawn?
I personally think it's a good move to give two new reserve goalkeepers a chance to integrate with the side and maybe even get game time. It's been Ejide and Agbim for too long. I'm not saying they're not still the best two back-ups, but use friendlies like this to assess other options. Best,

I think Carl Ikeme shuld be looked at too , atleast !
No weapon that is formed against me shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against me in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and their righteousness is of me, saith the Lord. (Isaiah 54:17 KJV)

I think thats exactly what you SHOULD be saying!Eddydove wrote:I personally think it's a good move to give two new reserve goalkeepers a chance to integrate with the side and maybe even get game time. Agbim for one has been a source of national bewilderment for far too long.

A new dawn or false dawn? A team without passion and pride is like a mobile phone without signal, one can only play games. Our players need to have pride in the green and white or it will be same o, same o

Re: Nigeria squad: New dawn?
Most of our players have passed their used by date. Keshi wasted a lot of time with many of our players.
Some can be re-invited such as Nwofor, Leon Balogun etc...but the likes of Uchebo need to be permanently taken off our roster.
Between the posts....it certainly will not hurt to shake things up a bit. It not only gives us options, if we need them....but it also keeps Enyeama on his toes.
Upfront..Ideye needs to be recalled, I would like to see Obafemi Martins come back (he doesn't even need to start..but he needs to be in the team), particularly when we waste a lot of positions on the team! In the past we had players like Kanu Nwankwo and Yobo offering a lot of expertise and guidance. Martins IMO is probably the most cerebral Nigerian player right now! He is the most complete footballer we have! He may not suit our needs, but he knows a little bit about EVERYTHING! He knows how to track back, he knows how to work the midfield, he knows how to head, he knows how to dribble, he knows how to put power behind the ball and he knows how to position himself..just to name a few. Even if he does not suit our needs, the invaluable help that he can offer to others....cannot be understated!
Even somebody like Ideye that is in good form, could still benefit from having Oba around. He needs to be in the squad period! There are few Nigerian footballers that have had the depth of experience that he has! He has been through it all! Both off the field and on the field!
I will leave it at that for now.

Buhari, whose two terms thankfully ground to a constitutional halt in May. (One thing both democracies have going for them is that their leaders, however bad, have only two terms to swing the wrecking ball.) Under Buhari, growth per head also plunged to 0. An economic agenda drawn from the dusty pages of a 1970s protectionist handbook failed to do the trick. Despite Buhari’s promise to tame terrorism and criminality, violence flourished. Despite his reputation for probity, corruption swirled. FT

Re: Nigeria squad: New dawn?
Truth be told, apart from Enyeama, no player in that squad evokes excitement in me.
Sadly, that has been my reality since the downward trajectory of the Super Eagles since the 2013 AFCON triumph.
Several of the so-called fresh invitees have made inauspicious debuts anyway (Ujah at 2013 Confed Cup).
Therefore I make no case for any player omitted.
