Iwobi asks Rohr to use him as the Eagles playmaker

Post by Ayo Akinfe »

Iwobi says he would love to be used in the playmaker role like his uncle Okocha come the World Cup - See more at: https://goo.gl/NGTZdv

With no Nwakali or Ajagun in the team, I agree that Iwobi should be our playmaker. If you ask me, this should be our line-up:

4-3-3:
****************************Ighalo******************************

***************Moses*****************Iheanacho*************

*********************************Iwobi***************************

********************Mikel******************Ndidi****************

***Joel**********Balogun***********Ekong*********Ebuehi***

*******************************Uzoho****************************

Or 3-5-2:
**********************Ighalo***********Moses*****************

*********************************Iwobi***************************

********************Mikel******************Ndidi****************

***Joel************************************************Ebuehi***

***********Balogun**********Ekong**********Omeruo*********

*******************************Uzoho****************************

He should be the playmaker.

Mikel should drop deeper, he belongs in the midfield. That is his favourite position and his natural position.

Why do you keep stubbornly putting Joel Obi are RB/RWB? What gives you the impression he's any good there? You keep repeating it over and over assuming that'll make it more acceptable.

Is this for a friendly? Cos without Vic Mo in the first 11 the SE can't do nada in real games.

The bobo take fish out of the water for the first time and decided to enrol it in a marathon race in the Sahara desert. Obi is supposed to play that role like he's been doing so all his life

Joel Obi is the best leftback in the squad. Take it or leave it!

If you were told that John Ogu could play centreback before Saturday you would have said it is crazy simply because you have not seen him play there before. Well, I have seen Joel play leftback before and he is two classes above Idowu and Echiejile in that role!

We played well without Moses against Argentina and Zambia. He isn’t a must start in a 352.

I like your 352 the truth is that Mikel remains our playmaker. And Iwobi a sub if we don't play a 352.

Rohr might still discover his best personnel combination.

hehehe you dont get it?

- for more than a decade, Ayo demanded 3-5-2 and kept writing it. What are we doing today?

Dey there! In 15 years, I expect Joel Obi to take his rightful place as our left back!

Only if Moses replaces Ebuehi to do what he does at Chelsea. But not sure I'd trust Ighalo/Iheanacho to find the back of the net.

Iwobi, Mikel and Ndidi are starting to look like the trinity. Good balance in attack and defence. Lord, I hope Ndidi will be fit and back to his best for this world cup. He is a critical piece of the puzzle.

I saw him play that role at Inter Milan a few times in a 5-3-2, before his spate of injuries, and he was quite good at it. Good tackler, quite pacy and a good crosser.

Because he has technical ability. Even though he can't shoot and doesn't have lungs, he has a good passing range, and can actually hold onto the ball well.

So funnily enough he can actually get himself into good positions, and can create as well.

In the past, we didn't have many players with similar technical ability, but now we are seeing some options. Nwakali (after the WC) and Iwobi, who is more agile than Mikel, better shooting (relatively speaking), and the versatility to move around the forward positions.

I think Mikel assumed the role, because well nobody else was up for it, even Moses who is one of our more technical players is very bad in the hole, but Iwobi is now up for it.

I think the issue now is Mikel is the Captain, and the Number 10 role is seen as a prestigious one, Mikel may be reluctant to give it up, even though we all know Iwobi should slot in there. Hopefully, just hopefully Mikel and Rohr both come to the conclusion that the role is Iwobi's.

Our 2nd half performances against Argentina and England have shown that we are better suited to 3-5-2.

Mikel is captain and he has not been assigned the no.10 shirt to sit as a DM. Rohr will likely start Mikel in the hole and change formation based on game play. Unfortunately, Mikel tends to slow down the attacking play in the final third but he has the passing range to initiate attacks. If Rohr is going to play Mikel as the creative outlet, he is going to have to get him to release the ball quicker (and stop this ball hugging and drawing players to himself, inviting a tackle that he seems to do all the time).
