Re: LIVID ODEGBAMI'S RECORD VS ALGERIA
some of our Unkus are too old to remember what happened to the Eagus after the 1980 triumph. Especially during the Spain 82 qualifiers. An injured Odegbami, Henry Nwosu, Osigwe, Banjo, Chidozie, etc had carried Nigeria all the way to the finals against Algeria. Then NFA recalled Chukwu, Okala dem from retirement, and further "fortified" the team with US-based "professionals" like Andrew Atuegbu and Thompson Usiyen who were past their prime.
Historians like EII and Gotti can confirm....
Odegbami earned the right to talk, particularly against North Africans...he was a thorn in their flesh throughout his career.
I doubt he was part of the ragtag 82 team that played in Libya, with ancient Fregene as goalie. Zambia demolished that team 3-0.
According to BBC, "...Odegbami played his last game for Nigeria on 30 October 1981 but went on with his club career for another three years."

Re: LIVID ODEGBAMI'S RECORD VS ALGERIA
He retired from the Green Eagles in 1984 so he was part of the team that lost to Algeria home and away for the WC qualifiers. If he has the right to talk for beating Algeria in Nigeria, then this team has even more right to tell him to shut up since they beat Algeria for the biggest tournament in the world. Saying he has earned the right to criticize more accomplished players for losing a hard fought battle against Algeria in the last minute on a neutral ground is like Okocha being livid for us losing in the last minute against Demark because he was a thorn on their sides when they beat us 4 zip.Chief Ogbunigwe wrote:some of our Unkus are too old to remember what happened to the Eagus after the 1980 triumph. Odegbami and his teammates should just enjoy their elder statesmen status, but they are the least accomplished Eagles team ever. Everyone else has WC appearance to his name except them. He has no right to be upset with any of our current player's performance, unless he is speaking as a mere spectator.

Exactly! Although I don't have the records, but we lost a lot of games to the North African countries. Unfortunately, it seems Oga Odegbami forgot about the games/lossesTobi17 wrote:Funny enough during Odegbami's era, we seemed to have had a poor record against North African teams...

Re: LIVID ODEGBAMI'S RECORD VS ALGERIA
No, but it's easier to beat them at home than to beat them in Egypt. Besides, the boys he was livid at also beat Algeria in Uyo for the WC spot, something he could never do.Odas wrote:Oga Odegbami, please over to you, Sir!
