Re: GOAT Nigerian footballer?
Keshi (RIP). If we’re talking about impact on Nigerian football then there’s no other.
OCCUPY NFF!!
Re: GOAT Nigerian footballer?
If we are to go based on national team performances, I'll go with Jay Jay Okocha.
Re: GOAT Nigerian footballer?
I will still go with Okocha. If you are looking at both club and country Kanu will be my second. Other players in the top 10 are Yekini, Mikel, Keshi, Odegbami, Finidi, Oliseh, Muda Lawal, Chuwku
Re: GOAT Nigerian footballer?
Truth be there of likes of Finidi we’re more decorated and accomplished than JJ.

Re: GOAT Nigerian footballer?
Unless you are looking at club and perhaps European clubs for that matter. If it is playing in Nigerian colors, it is even debatable at the senior level that Kanu will even be in the All Time XI.

Re: GOAT Nigerian footballer?
Kanu scored less than 20 goals for Nigeria none of them in a tournament, Okocha is the only answer.
Re: GOAT Nigerian footballer?
If you are looking at both club and country I will still go with Okocha. Won the Olympics, ANC, and featured prominently in 3 world cups. Was also 2nd twice in the APOY voting and should have won that award at least one in his playing career. Although he neither won a league or European cup title at club level, Okocha was very good for for Frankfurt, Fenerbache, and Bolton. Even at PSG he had some very good moments though that team underachieved with the talent they had.
Yekini will be my second best if you are looking at just national team performances. Mikel, Kanu, and Finidi were more successful than Okocha with their clubs, but taking into account performances for country and club, I will still give the edge to Okocha.

You guys keep complaining about local players being undermined by foreign coaches but you do the same thing. Godwin Achebe captained and won hardware with 3 different clubs, as well as the National team and he doesn’t get a mention. If you don’t value your local players, why should foreign coachesolu wrote:I will still go with Okocha. If you are looking at both club and country Kanu will be my second. TTTK,
It is amazing. Here we are talking about Nigeria's greatest player and the focus is on what a guy has done at some English or Dutch club. That is really baffling. If you are talking about Nigeria's greatest players, how about focusing on how great the guy was/is in the colors of a NIGERIAN. team? Does Nigeria not play football?
