NFF FREEDOM

Post by Igugu »

We had been fixated on Nigerian Players and filling the squad with foreign-born Nigerian players and lackluster performances of the squad in recent times. Never once did we consider or ponder the root of our problems: Shackled and A Federation Tettered to Government of Nigeria. Most countries in the have their Football Federation autonomous and do administer the football organization like a business. It is time we started agitating for our Football Federation to be free. Free from government intrusion and unprogressive decision-making modules that had kept us blaming the wrong thing for our shoddy performances.

Having a free federation will foster decision-making towards improving the structure and administration of football in our country, as well as giving opportunity to persons not only capable but knowledgeable of football administration.

Emphasis on grassroot football has not been as strong in the country as had been in the past. Principal Cup, University Games, Regional Football contests, all these and more had been given substantial attention they deserve.

The Local Leagues have been below par at best. With a free federation, club owners could be given time schedule to bring their stadia and organization to standard. Players' earnings could be mandated or regulated too.

This is all theory. Good theory, but theory nonetheless.
I doubt you are saying anything any football fan doesn’t already know.
And I can definitely say you’re not educating anyone currently in the NFF.

We had the NFF VP here on a well-advertised CE Zoom meeting just a few months ago for two hours. Only a dozen or so turned up. Missed opportunity. Some deliberately stayed away. Some came and did an immediate u-turn - maybe because they didn’t want their rigid preconceptions torpedoed.

Everyone knows the solution until they get in there and are faced with reality. Practical solutions are what we need.

The challenge is practicality.

And much of that is down to M O N E Y.
The rest is down to trying to run an efficient organisation in an unstructured, chaotic and near-lawless environment called Nigeria.

Try it. You might not like it.

My brother, Damunk: We have to start somehow. At least start talking about bringing about the prospect of making that happen in say five, ten, or so many years to come.

This NFF under Pinnick.... even if you give all the money in the world, they would still prefer ready-made or overseas to anything developmental in Nigeria. Anyone who has interacted with Pinnick would assert to the subsmission.
