He refuses to acknowledge that the team is not playing well and saying that he sees positive signs in the Osimhen/Ighalo partnership, when most of us saw it differently. Like a CE posted, it's like he's trying to sabotage the team!
My sauce (Amebo person :D ) talk sey the reason be sey, Rohr don make the players dey comfortable. I know sey you get inside info :taunt: na true talk abi?

I really don't understand this mentality.

Imagine a captain of a ship heading towards an iceberg and says we should continue heading towards the iceberg and accept the consequences rather than doing what's possible to steer the ship away from its doom.
As Damunk pointed out, this is a poor analogy.

The iceberg is just a fear in your head. It's not reality.

A better analogy would be, you're on a ship and people began to see small pieces of icebergs floating by. Some people start freaking out, and in the midst of the hysteria, the captain decides to abandon the ship into lifeboats. Would that be a wise idea?

Okay. Let's take your analogy, which makes perfect sense.
Question is, is it an appropriate analogy though?

A ship known to be heading towards an iceberg will have real objective data to confirm this to be the case; not guesswork or just feelings. Even if uncertain, they'd make their decision on the balance of info available to them.

So what are your objective data in this case in a football sense?
(By the way, there is no prejudice coming with my question. :D )
If you want objective data look at recent results, quality of the opposition, and look at the performances. These will tell you the direction the team is headed in. No guess work involved there.

If you like you can replace the iceberg with being in very choppy waters. In other words, you're in trouble right now - again no guesswork or feelings involved. Your boat hasn't capsized yet but your captain has steered the ship into danger and isn't showing much signs he's capable of avoiding disaster.

Orion wants to trust the captain, lie back on his recliner and accept the consequences. :D Not everyone is built that way.

Chelsea initially started well with Lampard, suddenly things were not looking good they were heading to a downward Spiral away from any thropies or winning EPL .
Lampard was clearly running out of ideas.
In came Tuchel, same club, same team, same players .
He turned Chelsea around.

Same Scenario with Nigeria.

I respect Rohr, he appears to be a dignified, gentleman, choose inform players for Nigeria but like all things in life there comes a time when it's over.

Our current crop of players are too talented, gifted and in my opinion can stand toe to toe with any players in the world in any position and therefore should be a more dominating powerful force in World Football.

highbury wrote: Fri Nov 19, 2021 6:49 am Having pondered on this, I believe it will be the biggest mistake Nigeria will make if Rohr is fired now! I looked at the FIFA window and we only have about 10 days of preparation before the AFCON. I am sorry no new coach has that much time to exert any meaningful change in the team. Don't get me wrong, I am of the opinion that he should be fired, but it should have be done earlier. Terminating his appointment is akin to making the right decision at the wrong time. Rohr pattern of thinking is anathema to our way of thinking. He makes his team and Nigerians feel inferior about the team. I believe the best time to terminate his appointment is after March if we don't qualify or after the World Cup. The national team is different from clubs. When a club coach gets fired he has time to prepare his team, but a National team coach is only bound by FIFA window which makes things a little complicated. We shouldn't make the same mistake of 2002 and 2010.
We are not aiming to get a coach for the AFCON. I think my grand mum will get this team to the QF stage of the AFCON easy…..

Advancing and qualifying for the big one is the issue…..

That’s the whole point. Let the new coach call up the right players, let then all gel at the AFCON….it will be like a football camp and then get ready for the WC qualifiers and the main thing afterwards….

The ball is in Picnnick’s court…..if he hires the right coach with hunger and drive not some 90yr old retired ex-great….., we will play with passion and at least showcase our talent on the world stage and grow from there….

But that is EXACTLY why he does it his way. Because the buck stops at his doorstep.

He will tell you for free that when he 'listened' to advice he was embarrassed by the local guys...

So he will go with his own choice.

Because ultimately, everyone and dia mama go blame am.
