Nigeria vs Athletico Madrid 2018 - Where are they now

Where are these boys playing now especially the midfielders, these boys balled on that day, granted it's been 3 years or so now but they played like the old school SE, midfield play and pattern of play was obvious. Confident on the ball, always creating outlet for the defenders and the defenders didn't have to go the route 1. This is what has been missing in the SE, the midfield.

Chidiebere has been the dissapointment for me, with so much talent he has just regressed clubwise, the SE really need to regain its midfield.

Chidiebere Nwakali - saudi club Tuwaiq :atc:
Kelechi Nwwakali - huesca spain
Usman Mohammed - isreal hapoel hadera
Destiny Ashadi - katsina United but not shure if still there

Those guys played with so much panache. Wow.. and non of them was selected to the so called “main team.” Atrocious.

The right back Muhammed actually understands the role of a modern day right back. Bump forward and whip-in wicked crosses. He never got a consistent run on the national team.

Thats why scouts do not make decisions based on one game. Its normal for a player to play out of his skin against Atleti, in order to sell himself, while Atleti players aren't taking the game seriously. The question is "can that player replicate that performance over a period of a season?"

of cos, hence the question and it's a shame to see some have regressed over the years, one can only follow them up at their club to see if they are still balling as they did years back

Nigeria has failed so many people and the generation past failed woefully the present generation, in all aspects of life. It is indeed sinful. If our football had been developed to a higher standard even to match that of Colombia, Mexico, etc; we would be better of for it by now. Look at the US for instance. In 1994 the US football was almost non-existent. Today, look at what they have. In the next couple of years to come, if the US chooses to increase the earning potentials of the MLS players, you know the best players of the World will flock to MLS, and the US will become the talk of the World.

What we need to do is stop overhyping one-off performances in such random matches, if you take a look at the Atletico side the majority of the starting XI were B team players anyway while ours was simply a random assortment of players, it seemed more like a political show than something football related.

The LMC did a a far better job a couple years ago sending our NPFL all stars to Spain for a pre-season tour vs several La Liga sides
