Basically these numbers are based on what each player already claims when playing for Nigeria. The numbers left then go to the new lads. For instance Semi Ajayi got his number simply because Balogun is absent. The #9 is allocated to Ighalo because of Osimhen' absence but will now go to whoever replaces Ighalo.

Chukwueze has used several numbers though and has used #17 in his last two games for Nigeria.

The guy wouldn't even be in squad if not for injur and withdrawls, plus Chuks has more caps. That "seniority" makes no sense.

It's why we still have Musa as captain.

I think Seniority is who joined SE first not who has more caps…

Precisely and in many cases how regularly someone is on the team helps in securing these numbers. For instance, Osimhen started with #8 on his debut and then moved to settle with #21 because Ighalo was the guy with #9. However, after Ighalo retired, Osimhen inherited #9. Semi Ajayi seemed settled with #13 but his absence for a while meant that he lost ownership of that number to Ejuke and now has to take a backseat. The enigma was Okoye who had the #1 after his erebut at #20 and then went back to #1. But generally, these shirt numbers are predictable especially for players who have maintained some consistent appearances. It is very likely that Musa's #7 will be coveted when he leaves given that certain players including Chukwueze are possibly waiting for the number to be opened up.

make peaceful change impossible make violent change inevitable.

"It depends on what the meaning of the word 'is' is. If the--if he--if 'is' means is and never has been, that is not--that is one thing. If it means there is none, that was a completely true statement....Now, if someone had asked me on that day, are you having any kind of sexual relations with Ms. Lewinsky, that is, asked me a question in the present tense, I would have said no. And it would have been completely true."
