A neutral analysis of Nigeria at AFCON

Post by visieC »

1. First and foremost, The team lacks a very good goalie
2. Osihmen is necessary to cause fear amongst defenses
3. The midfield is not too good compared to say Senegal or Mali or CIV..Ndidi is very good...the others are simply average
4. Defense is not tested because Nigeria has a killer forward line.
5. The team will be the best in the world if they played more collectively.
6. Forwards must help the defense when necessary
7. Over confidence with us Africans is a disease.

Again, this is a non Nigerian objective opinion.

Prepare for Ghana and you cannot expect to win before the game starts

No 7 is the most important. We win by talking only to end up being taught a lesson.

Thanks indeed for this analysis
Just wanted to be clear on 7, are you referring to the team or the fans because both are mutually exclusive

Regardless it’s good to have an objective view

Good luck to your team in your tournament
For my sceptical Nigerian Friends : Pessimism is great because you are either always right or pleasantly surprised.

The team was confident..maybe over confident as I rewatched the game. Intensity returned in the last 10 minutes.

There was very low intensity and to me it demonstrates that the players were cocky that the game was won.

Europeans and Japanese/Korean are not very good but show intensity from beginning to end. We Africans , once we believe we are better, we slack off and lose...See Nigeria v Denmark in 1994.... or Senegal v Turkey in 2008 or so

Analysis of Nigeria at AFCON and then you talk about a player who wasn't at the AFCON? :D Who wasn't "playing collectively"?
We have been brainwashed by the Premier League that it's the best in the world. Nonsense. It's the best brand
Roy Keane: ITV 02/25/14

He says that we are currently "brainwashed" into believing that the Premier League is the best competition in the world, and that we are now a long way off dominating the Champions League again.
Gary Neville: Mirror: 12/23/14

I think Spain’s by far the best league.
Scholes. UK Guardian 9/6/16
