"It depends on what the meaning of the word 'is' is. If the--if he--if 'is' means is and never has been, that is not--that is one thing. If it means there is none, that was a completely true statement....Now, if someone had asked me on that day, are you having any kind of sexual relations with Ms. Lewinsky, that is, asked me a question in the present tense, I would have said no. And it would have been completely true."

Nothing inappropriate Madam Jette.... you're looking through "Western Prism"... Reverse is the case here...this is acceptance and appreciation.

Chanting Oyibo is ignorance and racist on international standards. We wouldn't accept Ukrainians chanting blackie in an international game. Oyibo is a term used to identify sin color only.

Re: INAPPROPRIATE ABUJA FANS CHANTS
Nothing inappropriate about it. We have our own culture and mannerisms. Stop trying to turn the average Nigerian into a European or American. Nothing wrong is calling someone Oyinbo in Nigeria. A popular white lady married to an Igbo man calls herself "nwanyi ocha" on social media and has huge Nigerian following. Noone has abused her for calling herself nyanyi ocha because we do not see it as derogatory. Stop imposing other people's view and biases on us!jette1 wrote: ↑Sat Feb 19, 2022 5:48 am https://www.instagram.com/tv/CaJUawHIWa ... =copy_link

Its nice when someone shoots ur murderer in the back, without asking to be paid.
Re: INAPPROPRIATE ABUJA FANS CHANTS
Also if skin colour is such a taboo would it be inappropriate if I explain to someone that 'Mr X is the black guy in the team', for the purpose of showing him Mr X?

Re: INAPPROPRIATE ABUJA FANS CHANTS
Funny enough you brought this up; An official or a team of officials reffing a certain game in Europe got in trouble and suspended because a lines man or 4 th official referred to a player as “the black one”
And calling someone nwanyi ocha in Igbo land predates colonial days and was never a reference to - a white woman. It was and has always been used to designate light skinned women just as nwoke ocha designates a light skinned man.

Re: INAPPROPRIATE ABUJA FANS CHANTS
The Nigerian bradcasting corporation and ministry of information should discourage the use of "Oyibo" in all tv/radio broadcasts, newspapers classrooms and the people will follow. It was also their culture in the American south to call black people Negroes, a similar term to Oyibo, but they systematically removed the word and replaced it with African American.jette1 wrote: ↑Sat Feb 19, 2022 7:25 amExactly my thoughts; how Nigerians remain so backwards and insensitive and cut off from majority of world views on civil matters like this is mind bugging. Re: INAPPROPRIATE ABUJA FANS CHANTS
So based on your analogy, it will be wrong for an Igbo person to refer to another Igbo guy as nwoke ocha, because that would be considered a reference to colour.jette1 wrote: ↑Sat Feb 19, 2022 8:07 amFunny enough you brought this up; An official or a team of officials reffing a certain game in Europe got in trouble and suspended because a lines man or 4 th official referred to a player as “the black one”

Exactly. ‘Oyibo’ does not have the same negative connotation as ‘Nigg@’imehjunior wrote: ↑Sat Feb 19, 2022 12:01 pm Na wa o. This wokism is on steriods. It was used as a term of endearment. Make una chill small.
Rightly or wrongly, when we tease somebody with the word, it is nothing to do with racial hegemony.
