Each chapter of World Cup Moments represents an Episode of the World Cup finals and each Episode has a sub-title. So, the 1930 World Cup is Episode 1, with the sub-title: …In the Beginning. For chapter 2, though, the 1934 and 1938 editions are chronicled together in a chapter. It is the only chapter that bucks the trend. So chapter 2 marries Episodes 2 and 3 and sub-titled …the Beginning of the Future and the Calm before the Storm of War.

World Cup Moments goes a long way to create an interaction with, not just the football, but the universal set of histories revolving around it. For example, Episodes 1 and 8 go back in time to track the history of organized football. Mention is made of the first international football fixture between England and Scotland in 1872. Likewise are citations of how The FA came to be, International Football Association Board’s inauguration, the writing of The Laws of the Game, hosting of Lipton Cup, formation of FIFA etc in Episode 1. World Cup Moments digs to the root of how nuances like catenaccio, total football et al came into being.

There are also snippets of how key inventions shaped each decade in aviation, information technology, telecommunications, healthcare and other key spheres, especially as these inventions played roles in the way the FIFA World Cup was hosted. At the end of each Episode, there are tables showing all the World Cup matches of that edition, with data on the final scores, all scorers, venues, attendances and referees.

Hardcopy will be when I finish the Vol. 2 so it will be combined. For now
though, Amazon can print d a paperback for you.

Posting anything related to world cup on this forum is like telling an old man a tale full of dry bones.
