NFF Controversy: Buhari wades in, says September election must hold

Post by Purity »

President Muhammadu Buhari has waded into the leadership crisis in Nigerian football by directing that elections scheduled for September must hold as scheduled.

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) had earlier scheduled its Elective Congress for September 2022 when the tenure of the current Amaju Pinnick-led board expires.

However, the controversy in the NFF, as well as a legal hurdle, has put that election in doubt.

President Muhamadu Buhari communicated this directive in a letter dated June 17 and signed by the Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Sunday Dare.

The letter, which was addressed to Mr Pinnick, also directed that the instrument of football administration in the country, the NFF Statutes, be amended to include other stakeholders, who had hitherto been disenfranchised or denied equal representation in the NFF congress.

You journalist should stop doing the bidding of Dare for him.
This is clearly Dare’s way of pushing his own agenda under the guise of it being mandated by Buhari. This was similar to the nonsense he spewed about Rohr which ended up being BS.
Y’all journalists need to start pushing back on this jackass and his lies!

Dare is just an emperor.
Now that the basketball decision has been rescinded, was it Buhari that did it?

:rotf: :rotf: Buhari's name is supposed to instigate FEAR and COMPLIANCE. Unfortunately, the backlash had Dare tucking his tail in between his legs and running for cover.

After he pretty much destroyed the opportunity our BB ladies had fought for and got, by winning the Afro-basket finals and qualifying for the FIBA World Championships. This is because they rightly called him out for the incompetent nincompoop he is. Not only did Naija get thrown out of the Championships, but have also lost potential revenue by not participating.

Same thing happened at the Olympics and the PUMA kit contract, costing Naija millions of USD in potential revenue due to him nixing the deal. Ditto that with his contant interference with the NFF on the Rohr issue, which eventually led to the worst AFCON result in 40 years and costing us a relatively easy Qatar WC spot.

The guy is nothing short of a moron.
I thought Solomon Dalung (Mr. Beret) was useless, but this guy most certainly takes the cake!

Dare might be a rogue and an imbecile but on the Basketball issue I cannot fault him. We are just very difficult people with no respect for rules.

NBBF had two separate leadership and FIBA failed to step in and resolve the issue. I did not like the withdrawal from competition BUT it forced FIBA to at least recognize a 'leadership' of the NBBF. How difficult is it to organize election where the voters are not up to 1,000?

It is a pity our ladies suffered the consequences of those morons fighting for leadership of the NBBF. Hopefully we move on to greater things.
