Super Eagles midfielders, Moses Simon and Akinkunmi Amoo have been shortlisted in the nominees’ list for the Confederation of African Football Awards 2022.

CAF released the list of nominees in different categories for male footballers on Thursday with Africa Cup of Nations winner Sadio Mane, and former Liverpool teammate, Mohammed Salah making the nominees’ list.

Simon, who plies his trade in France with FC Nantes, was the only Nigerian player nominated in the Player of The Year (Men) category.

The Jos-born speedster was pivotal to Nantes 2021/22 season, where they finished ninth in the Ligue 1 and won the Coupe de France after beating Nice in the final.

You should be more worried of the shocking state of African football. We used to boast of Abedi, Kalusha Bwalya, Lucas Radebe, Osei Kuffour, Rashidi Yekini, Kanu, Okocha, George Weah, Samuel Eto'o, Didier Drogba, Yaya Toure, Milla, El Hadary, Hassan etc etc

Today we are talking about Moses Simon

Caf is a joke! What about Osimehn? It would be years before we see any Nigerian or even someone
from an anglophone country win it.

Is the award for best player at AFCON or best player in Africa period? I thought it was the latter.

He was among the top scorers in the qualis and scored double digits in Seria A, didn't players like Auba get nominated and win it without going to Afcon?

Kanu didnt attend Afcon 1996 when he won it. Neither did George Weah.
But on Moses, I am still eating the huge humble pie he served. So no comment on Moses.
